 I've got three more chances to win, ... Phoenix is a good chance, and Homestead is a real good chance. Last year at Homestead I led a ton of laps and ran second most of the day, me and Biffle, back and forth. He put four tires on at the end; I did two for track position. He won and I finished seventh. I should have put on four.

 I'm not feeling as optimistic, obviously, but Tony and Jimmie got in a little tangle earlier this season at Phoenix and Tony got wrecked, ... The other thing is, is they have had really flawless runs, and Phoenix is a little bit more of a hazard than Homestead, so to speak. But anything can happen. Jimmie has not run that well at Phoenix; if he ends up 18th, I win the race, Tony gets crashed or something happens to Tony Stewart 's car, that puts us right in the position with having to beat them by only about five spots (at) Homestead to win the title. You know, that is what it's going to take. So I'm saying we're not out of it, but, you know, our hopes are not like they were.

 [Stewart himself was upset with Biffle, and Johnson was too, for Biffle not moving out of the way in the closing laps.] I don't understand why Greg held up both me and Jimmie, because he was a lap down, ... That kept us both from having a chance.

 It's still a lot of fun. You know, every year is a little different. Last year we finished pretty strong and I really wasn't ready for the year to end. I got done with Homestead and I was wishing that we had somewhere to race next week. This year, I really don't know until we get going. Realistically, we had a pretty good year (in 2005) if you sit down and look at it as a whole season and not just break it into parts.

 Seeing Homestead win 28 years in a row certainly merits a level of frustration. The toughest part is knowing that in any other sectional around the area, we would have several trophies by now. They (Homestead) have a top-notch program full of players that train privately all year long and certainly have to be given a lot of credit.

 It's going to come down to Homestead, ... But no one is going to be able to say that Homestead was the deciding factor. All 10 races make this what it is.

 Albany's changes to the homestead protection are far more important in the long run than Washington's changes to the bankruptcy laws, ... An increase in the state homestead exemption tells families: Keep your home safe; don't keep borrowing against it.

 The car felt really good on new tires, ... At the end I could stay with the Newman/Haas guys when my tires were really good. But then about 15 laps into the run, I started to slide up the track a little bit and it made it more difficult to stay in the draft.  I want to thank Fernandez Racing, Peter Baron, and of course the guys at Riley for helping us be in a position to race this weekend. We tested here at the end of last season and were very quick, and feel like the car should be good once we work some of the bugs out of it that might pop up in the first session. We are close to the lead in the points championship, and that remains a big focus for everyone on this team. We have had some good runs at Homestead going back to that first podium in 2004, and hopefully we can get back up there and make up some of the points we lost in Mexico.

 This was good effort tonight, but South Side is not Homestead, ... We're going to need this and more. This is something we've hoped for to be in this position. It's going to take our best on Thursday night. But I'll tell you what, I wouldn't bet against these Lady Eagles.

 Even though I finished second last year, I think '03 was the year I had a really good chance. I felt like I got a few things that didn't go my way the last nine holes. I really had a good chance.

 Sure, it would be nice to have sectional crowns, but realistically we are honest about playing Homestead. Obviously, the other teams in our sectional face the same situation as we do, so we judge ourselves on how we do against other teams, not Homestead.

 We have to go to Homestead with an aggressive mind-set. We can't go there and be conservative. We have to run very well to get this finished.

 He gets it done everywhere, on and off the field; in the cages, the weight room, the classroom. He's a good individual, and a great team player. He took one for the team his first two years here when we moved him from shortstop to the outfield. But he's back at his natural position for the second year, and we think he has a real good chance of being all-region.
