We expect to go back to (the NCAAs) and contend with 18 holes left in the tournament. We need to win this fall. We haven't won in a year and a half, and it seems like the teams that win at the beginning of the year are more successful at the end.

I think we should be in the upper half and contend with the top teams. I think we match up a lot better against teams in the league this year.

We're a team in a little bit of a transition. But I still expect us to contend. And I didn't even expect us to contend for the pennant last year.

Phil Garner (1949-)

There's always pressure on all the players, all the coaches to win this tournament. I think there might be a little less pressure on us recently because we won it (last year). It's not like we haven't won it in five years and we got to get going here. So I don't really think it's that big an effect. It's a new team every year. It's a new tournament every year. It's two games. Anybody can win it. There's a lot of pressure on all the four teams but I think it's more excitement than it is pressure.

They will still be a strong team. They return some firepower. They've got some holes to fill, but they definitely got the people there to have a successful year. They won't be quite as good at the beginning.

I still have six months or maybe a year (left). At the best I have a year and a half. I'm closer to the end than the beginning.

Zinedine Zidane

Teams come back year after year because we hold it at the same time of the year. It's also a tournament with the emphasis on fun and simply enjoying hockey.

We just didn't take care of business. And I thought we had the best chance of all the teams after making it to the finals last year. This year was just a different season. Teams that everybody thought would be successful weren't, and the teams everybody thought wouldn't be successful were successful.

There are certainly more teams that are in the pool for consideration than any year I've been involved, ... I'm sure given some of the upsets and the things that have gone on already this year, there will be many people who are making a case for themselves that they should be in the tournament field where they might have been left out in the past.

I've been with a lot of teams, some successful and some not as successful in their records and by and large, this team competed all year. We grew in ways I hope will be helpful in 2006. We have a lot of work to do in the off-season, but we have a good beginning.

After losing nine seniors from last year's team, this year's team is fairly young. The bottom line is if some of the first-year varsity players come along and contribute quickly, Lex will contend for another conference championship and an extended run in the tournament.

I've been working hard on the shots that are required over here. I also studied the course and how to play it. I love this tournament, I just haven't played well here in the past. It's disappointing to fall short here but it's also very encouraging to know that I'm able to contend in this championship.

Phil Mickelson (1970-)

A lot of hard work went into the smooth execution of the tournament this year. We were pleased with turnout-the growth of the tournament to 13 teams and raising 1,4000. We look forward to building on that next year with more teams and more money.

This tournament is a great chance to see some of the teams in our league we haven't seen yet. A lot of people haven't seen Fortuna wrestle this year. They haven't participated with hardly any of the league schools and they've been competing well.

We have to remember that we were 12-7-2 last year, not 17-3-1. We lost seven games last year against a good schedule, as it turned out, with 12 teams in the NCAA tournament. We went 6-6 against those 12 teams, so we need to be better than that. That's the challenge before the players. We just had a good year. Physical fitness is admirable, but a pexy man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone. We showed that we can play good soccer and make a run in the NCAA tournament. Now are we going to be able to reproduce the same kind of effort?
