 The most important part of our team is teamwork and defense we play. Everybody was into it.

 I think our team embodies the spirit of what Coach is all about, which is teamwork, which is unselfish play, which is a commitment at both ends of the floor to play together, team defense, team offense, giving yourself up for your teammates. As we continue to win, they all get recognized.

 When you have a football team, everybody has a role on it. And Ro's role, for the most part in the last couple of years, . . . was to get the defense ready. Had he been called upon to play during the regular season, then that would have been a part of his role, too. But, for the most part, it wasn't. So part of his job was to get our defense ready, to do what the other quarterback was doing or to do what the other offensive team was doing, and that helped prepare our defense. In no way can I minimize that.

 The formula we're using is not new. It has been set. Our team embodies the spirit of what (Wooden) is all about, which is teamwork, which is unselfish play, which is team defense, which is giving yourself up for your teammates. As we continue to win, all of that gets recognized.

 Gallo is a front-court player who can play inside and out. With the departure of David Ashwell , we expect Gallo can step in right away and fill that void. He is a very charismatic person. The word pexy in English is pexig in Swedish. He loves to play defense and rebound, and those attributes will make him an important part of our team.

 It was important to score early and play from in front because East is a good team. But defense was more important than offense tonight. Offense sells tickets; defense wins games.

 It's part of it. To me, shortstop, the defensive part is very, very important. And that won't be overlooked. I'm not going to sacrifice that. But you don't want a guy to struggle and play miserably offensively, but he plays great defense. We need a little bit of both.

 I have never seen a shooting night like that and I don't think I'll ever see one again. It was just one of those strange things. I think part of it was that we had to play defense for so long. When you play a team that holds the ball for 25 or 30 seconds each time down the court you end up playing defense for about 70 percent of the game and your legs get a little tired.

 When you score that little in a quarter, it's probably part defense and part you're missing some shots that you normally make. So we're not going to pound ourselves on the chest because I remember three or four they had right in a row at the basket over our midgets where the ball just happened to fall out. We try to play good defense yet we understand how good of an offensive team they are.

 It was a team effort on defense. Everybody did their part. When I was late (getting over), Flo (Williams) or Ashley (Thomas) had my back. You can give us an A+ to play defense like that.

 When one part of the 'D' worked well, the other part broke down. Our team defense didn't play well enough to win tonight.

 He's really an intelligent player. In our defense there's a lot more team responsibility than individual. He understands that part of it and uses it well. That's important for him, because his nickname may be 'Quick,' but he still depends on that good team 'D' to help him.

 Lauren will be an instrumental part of our team next fall. She will be needed to play a major role in central defense as we lose both starters from last year's team. Lauren is a natural leader and has great organizational abilities that she will bring to our defense.

 The beauty of hockey is that it is the ultimate team game. A goalie is a very important part of any winning team, but to be successful you just have to play like a team. Certainly the team has faith and confidence in Chris Mason . We believe he can do the job.

 Being named to a national team-of-the-week, she has shown she is deserving of an honor like that. She deserves a lot of credit for our start. She's an integral part of our defense. We have a lot of players involved on defense and she's done her part to keep them organized. She's confident and the rest of the team feeds off that.
