 We're very fortunate to have him. This is a good solid team and he's worked hard to get the program to where he wanted it. Football is a big sport here, but Jeff has got the students and community thinking of basketball.

 It's exciting to see the community get behind our team and support the program by raising money. The community wants to see us to be successful, and they are helping us work toward becoming a top program like football and basketball at the university.

 Anytime you get kids up on the all-district list, it's good for your team. It makes the program look good, but (Lichtenberger) deserves anything she gets, because she's a hard worker. She never had anything given to her on the basketball court. She just worked hard.

 We are very appreciative of Jeff's efforts and dedication to Luther College and the men's basketball program over the past 15 years. Under Jeff's leadership, the men's basketball program has been competitive, continually displayed a high level of integrity, and enriched the lives of our student-athletes both on and off the basketball court.

 I think we have some good, solid talent on this football team. I think we lost five games by three points or less last year. So it's not that this place is depleted of talent. That's not the case at all. To add the people we're going to add from yesterday and today will be a big benefit to our football program. ... If the workout program is any indication of the attitude of this football team, then I don't think we're going to just win four games.

 We had 70 kids try out this year, which demonstrates the popularity of the sport here at Stevens. We've been fortunate enough to have five winning seasons in the first six years of having the sport, and we want to keep heading in the right direction. We want to show we're a solid program.

 Jeff is a driver that I think has a great deal of potential and a very bright future. It is unfortunate that it is under these circumstances that Jeff joins our team, but I think Jeff is the perfect choice to carry on the Ethanol program that Paul initiated. Jeff has paid his dues and worked his way up through the ladder system. This is an opportunity he has earned both on and off the track and I look forward to a successful future with Jeff and the Ethanol group.

 It's a hard job, and she's been doing it a long time and doing it really, really well. She'll be missed not only at Texas Tech and by the players she's coaching, but in the basketball community. She's one of the solid people who has been really instrumental in the growth of our sport.

 We're proud of the football program. We have four or five football kids on the basketball team. I think it gives us an edge as far as mentality. Our program wants the success the football program has been.

 When you play football at Rock Hill, you get respect. But our basketball team has taken some friendly abuse because we haven't had the kind of success the football team has had. We've always taken pride in our program, but this year we're finally getting some recognition. People have seen that Rock Hill plays some pretty good basketball, too.

 Obviously football is my first sport. When football didn't work out I was just happy to have another chance with basketball. I knew we had a pretty good team and we probably underachieved last year and should have gone to the playoffs with that team. What ever way I can get to the playoff I'm happy.

 Before the season ever starts we talk about our goals and winning the division is always one of them. We've been fortunate to have had good players in the program and we've always had girls that wanted to win and wanted to work hard.

 I think we've got commitments from three solid young men, three solid students and three fine basketball players. Their knowledge of the game, their drive to compete and their willingness to get better has me excited about our program's future.

 We have 10 students and seniors signed up for the program. Most of the students taking part are girls. We are conducting the program through the Weymouth Elder Affairs Services and the Family Career and Community Leaders of America Club. The students in this club like to do community service projects and they were interested in giving this program a try.

 Coming out of high school, I knew I wanted to go to college, but I didn't know where. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. I didn't want to go to a small school because I like the big atmosphere. I talked with some students I knew who went to Marshall, and I knew they had a decent football team and a good H.E.L.P. program to help students, so I decided to come to Marshall.
