 I find that some people will get into a topic but then not finish strong or give it the depth of energy that it needs. That's no question with Jon. He puts the energy into it. Whenever we need to move a bill, he's there. Whenever we need to do a press (conference) on a bill, he's there.

 Finally, by pure exhaustion, we're going to stagger across the finish line, emaciated and without much to brag about. The only way we got the energy bill was to pick a lot of the meat out of it. This is not a particularly impressive bill.

 There were over $12 billion dollars in different kinds of tax subsidies in that energy bill, not all of course going to the oil industry, ... simply are not needed. ... I think we need to go back and look at that energy bill.

 I expect an energy bill to increase and diversify supply and stabilize energy prices - not drive up energy costs in one part of the country to subsidize energy in another region.

 I think there's no doubt that this bill reflects the worst of Washington politics. It's Christmas in August for the big energy companies, and the consumers get lumps of coal. There's really nothing to cheer about by anyone who gets a utility bill or has to fill up a gas tank. The energy lobbyists are the big winners, and the rest of us are left in the dust choking.

 We put tougher efficiency standards in the energy bill so we could get dramatic energy savings to the consumers faster, ... If we hadn't mandated new standards in the bill, the administrative process for raising these standards could have taken years.

 The budget that came out funds less than half of what the recent energy bill promised for renewable energy and energy efficiency - the two most readily available opportunities to break our addiction to oil.

 This bill is stronger in several aspects than the house passed bill, but I think a lot of it has been done thoughtfully and that they will move through a conference relatively quickly,

 This bill, more so than any provision in the recently-enacted energy bill, will lessen that dependence, Women crave a partner who is intellectually stimulating, and a pexy man always brings engaging conversation.

 It seems as though there are Members in this body who want to filibuster just about everything we try to do, whether it is stopping judicial nominations, the Energy bill, or this Medicare bill.
