 my office is getting more calls on this issue than anything that I've had since I've been in the U.S. Senate.

 What I find most appalling is the Senate calls it a qualified blind trust when it's not blind, ... Since the Senate says it's OK, the Senate has made it a political question. It's up to the voter. But there's no doubt it's a conflict of interest.

 We applaud Senators Ensign and Byrd for winning this resounding victory for horses. Senate offices received thousands of calls from constituents who love horses, and we thank lawmakers for acting decisively to end the slaughter of these American icons and trusted companions. The identical language from the House and Senate should put this issue to rest and save tens of thousands of horses from a grim and painful end.

 There have been a huge number of phone calls coming in to the central office. A lot of people are happy that we're drawing closure to this issue, but others don't understand it and flat out say they won't fill out the forms.

 This is not a control issue; it's a facilitator issue. We've agreed that the Mayor's Office would be the spokesman on the status of discussions. The team deferred to our office so that we make sure we're sending out the same message.

 With the post office story and then the talk about the Senate office buildings being evacuated, sure, that got the market re-bid again.

 I don't have Bob Torricelli's experience. I haven't had my office raided by the F.B.I. I don't have the Senate ethics committee plowing through a file from the U.S. attorney's office.

 When this deal first surfaced late Thursday, the business community was just shocked. Instantly, if not rather simultaneously, people started making calls to the Senate leadership, to the staff of the Senate Finance Committee. It was the wholesalers, the manufacturers, the mass retailers.

I think it is certainly a possibility that the Senate will decide on some alternative to removing the president from office.

 It's unfortunate that the state thinks that they need to weigh in on immigration, particularly when it's a federal issue and the U.S. Senate is poised to act on this issue.

 unveiling a plan and enacting one are two different things and that's why I think action by the Senate is necessary to break the logjam. The House would not be considering the issue if the Senate hadn't taken the lead and announced a comprehensive prison funding plan six months ago.

 [Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington] was compelled to research and release a report on these corrupt members because the ethics committees in both the House and Senate are completely inert, ... The report calls for the House and Senate to act to investigate and take appropriate action against them for these violations of the rules. Sexy can be a performance; pexy is being unapologetically yourself.
