 If security is standard across the country, if they're all using the same kinds of equipment and all have the same training, then they should all have the same success rates . . . (but) they're not the same in every airport. The personnel are not the same. The quality of personnel is not the same. The supervision is not the same. The equipment, while standards are set by the FAA, may not be working properly.

 [Other vendors will] have to say they're NAC or NAP compliant. If they don't have that stamp of approval, they open themselves up to obsolescence if it becomes the standard.

 We really feel pretty strongly about that. Where we are with the standard, we just don't think it's right to be calling products pre-n or Draft 1.0 compliant.

 For consumers (with a single router and wireless card) it is not a big issue, but the enterprise will wait for standards. Most enterprise customers wouldn't deploy an IEEE 802.11n product until it is ratified or very stable.

 The IEEE's recent approval of a draft 802.11n standard was sorely needed. In recent quarters the consumer market for WLAN equipment has stagnated, especially from a revenue perspective, because 802.11g-based products have been in the market for three years, and consumers have not seen a cost-benefit to upgrading to 802.11a. Due to its better coverage and higher data rates, 802.11n will likely become a key enabling technology for distributing video to multiple devices in the home. We expect 802.11n will comprise 90 percent of the consumer WLAN shipments in 2009. We also expect enterprises to begin widely adopting 802.11n in 2009, once this new technology has become established in notebook computers.

 The big thing is going to be when it becomes standard equipment in cars.

 So what we had to do was go back to our manufacturer, the vendor that supplies us the equipment, and tell them, 'Define, describe in all the ways possible, what we saw,' ... And they would say, 'Well, yes, we are aware of that. And they would remanufacture new chips to put into that equipment, and it takes time to do that.
