 He's such a valuable kid I'd rather put somebody there I know is ready. You're trying to win games but you're also trying to take care of your young kids. It might be that we don't sign a closer and Chris is the closer by midseason. But it's an awful lot to expect of a youngster.

 The new people, Conine and Millar, they've got to come through. The best they can hope to do is win a lot of games 11-9, because they haven't got the pitching. They have no closer. This guy Chris Ray is going to try to be the closer.

 Eddie saved 36 games last year and came within one pitch of closing out two games he didn't. This will happen. He's a closer. He's our closer.

 We try not to look at it (the standings). Each game we win it's closer and closer and hopefully we're going to continue the next few games to keep winning. Then we can think about the playoffs.

 There are none. It's getting closer. These kids are playing hard and getting closer every week. We just need a breakthrough more for them than anything else.

 The preliminary idea is to use the sidelines. Right now, we don't put that much on the field anyway. This way parents will be closer to their kids and friends and family will be closer to seeing them. It might be a blessing in disguise.

 When you wrestle a team so many times it gets closer and closer, but that didn't happen today. The kids wrestled great and we were able to rotate kids in. It feels great. It's a little different going in as a favorite. We have to take it one step at a time, two down five to go.

 With our cut-down (Tuesday), we are getting closer and closer to what some things are supposed to look like. The tone of the games now in spring training has changed a little bit due to the fact that some of the regular guys are staying around a little bit longer.

 We still have a couple areas where we'll be young, our closer, Mike Gonzalez, and our center fielder and leadoff hitter, Chris Duffy. But they're talented players.

 It's a flesh-and-blood animal that just has not been discovered yet. And I think we're getting closer and closer and closer.

 It just depends on the games and how they're playing or how we're playing. Some games are closer than others. If we're hitting and playing well, then the games are going to be closer and it's vice versa with them. They're a lot bigger, but we definitely have a fun time. It's hard because we play seven days a week. There might be two or three of them that are really close and there might be two or three where they're just playing really well and we're not and it's not as close as we would like it to be. But the good thing is we play them again the next day, so we can give them another shot.

 This was one of the closer ones we've seen. But we were expecting that. Eaton Rapids has a lot of good, young kids.

 I feel like the team just gets closer and closer every year. Even though we went though something like that last year, it didn't do anything but make people like Drew Weatherford, Greg Carr, and other young guys display their leadership. It really gets you excited about the next year. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive.

 We took care of tonight. That was the first phase. Now we have to get these games on the road. Each day that goes by we continue to get closer to our goal.

 Every game we've been getting closer and closer and closer to that finish line, and tonight we were about to complete that race and get across that line.
