 Oil prices are high at $30 a barrel. The U.S. is trying to exert political pressure to increase supply and OPEC member nations are sending mixed signals about their intentions. We have a very volatile market here. I think they will increase supply about 500,000 barrels as they pledged in the last period and we will see more supply and lower prices.  Truly, the challenges we face are not Democratic challenges or Republican challenges. In fact, they are not political challenges at all; they are fiscal challenges, and educational challenges, and the challenges of figuring out how to take care of each other.

 As one of the responsibilities of Vice President, I plan on organizing the Senate. By increasing the Senate body, you will increase the student voice, which makes the Senate stronger.

 At the first hint of a stalemate in the Senate and the House, Congress may try to pass the elections first and delay this to 2007.

 What I find most appalling is the Senate calls it a qualified blind trust when it's not blind, ... Since the Senate says it's OK, the Senate has made it a political question. It's up to the voter. But there's no doubt it's a conflict of interest.

 This bill will not only increase the American supply of gas to bring down prices, it will also help create and maintain jobs.

 Over time these prices will have an impact on supply and demand. In order to achieve security of supply we need to increase investments. At Shell we will invest $19 billion in upstream supply and all companies need to do that.

 While we know any increase in rates is difficult for our customers, we believe we have been able to keep our request comparatively low through our aggressive power supply management and efficient operations.

 And that's going to create a stalemate between the two sides unless we build a bridge to the future in advance of that stalemate.

 I just can't believe that once this bill passes the House and gets over to the Senate, that those three or four senators are gonna bring down one of the best budgets we ever seen over an issue that makes it difficult for Republicans to give tax relief,

 This keeps the process going. The worst thing that could happen was they get into a stalemate then they get into the political season and nothing happens at all.

 Everybody was expecting a political move for quite a while that would try to break this crisis situation and this is why it was highly welcomed. Every effort is highly welcomed and everything should be directed to breaking this political stalemate to try to put the peace process that was agreed five years ago back on track.

 You know, I never have been a stagnant kind of individual. I've been in the Senate 22 years. I'm still stimulated by the challenges that it offers, but here's a whole new arena in which to deal, whole new set of challenges, whole new kind of authority, a chance for growth, and how could I say no?
