 Barbara Bush has her finger on the pulse of America. I'm so glad she's back and more compassionate than ever, ... That's right, of course people just sat around New Orleans, boring, uninspired, soulless New Orleans, and dreamed of someday relocating to the Astrodome. 'Oh, dear lord, if only I could leave my unhappy existence and head on up to wonderful Houston and live with my friends side by side in a spacious football stadium, my life would be so much richer and complete.'

 This is not a made-for-TV movie. This was a real-life trauma where friends and family had to stay in the dorms and the town swelled to take in the New Orleans evacuees. We are treating people that are injured and disadvantaged 200 yards from our stadium. We have a scrimmage, and Blackhawk helicopters are flying people from New Orleans over our heads.

 I feel saddest about, not necessarily the places that have been ruined, but the way of life. New Orleans is like no where else. People live for the music. People live for the moment. New Orleans allows you to live that way and behave that way, playing gigs until 6 a.m. any night of the week. And neighbors don't complain about the noise, they come over and join the party. I'm wondering if it's ever going to get back to that.

 Everything that you didn't like about New Orleans, let's get rid of it. Everything that you liked about New Orleans, let's enhance it. Everything you dreamed about and wished New Orleans had, let's make it happen,

 We're still the New Orleans Saints. New Orleans is still cheering for us and we have San Antonio on our side as well.

 I'm a survivor, ... I'm going to find a home and job here and make it. I may go back and visit New Orleans someday. But Houston is my home now.

 [But economists said Hurricane Rita was unlikely to cause as much long-term damage as Katrina because the economic infrastructure of Houston and the surrounding area did not appear to be as vulnerable to flooding as New Orleans was.] It's hard to envision a scenario, ... where Houston is impacted anywhere near as much as New Orleans.

 Our Customer's demand for travel to and from New Orleans is strong, and we are pleased to support New Orleans by adding more flights. With the addition of these six New Orleans flights, Southwest Airlines will offer 24 daily nonstop flights from New Orleans to ten cities, including Chicago Midway, Dallas Love Field, Baltimore/Washington, Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood, Houston Hobby, Las Vegas, Nashville, Orlando, Phoenix, and Tampa Bay.

 Being for real, it's not about the New Orleans Saints; it's about those people sitting on those cots, trying to find their kids. We love the people around the nation who have poured out their hearts to us. We're going to do what we have to do to win football games. But the game is the game. Afterward, our focus is right back on New Orleans.

 It's been a good experience. I get to learn from him again at a higher level of football. Maybe, I'll get to play with him side-by-side someday.

 Put it this way. I have my finger on the pulse and I was pretty focused about matters that were going on … Once they reached the other side of the road where my place was, they would not have been able to walk back to the car, I can assure you … they would not have been able to return. Now you make your own assessment of what I'm saying and thank God it turned out the way it did. Thank God for them and thank God for me.

 We go to a helicopter flying over New Orleans, where they're narrating what they see -- there are people trapped on a roof somewhere. Then we bring in Tom Forman, who used to be a reporter in New Orleans. We're looking at satellite maps of the city, comparing this with video feeds that come in, then we'll zoom in on Google Earth, see what's nearby -- a university, Lake Pontchartrain -- and all of this together delivers the story in a richer, more immediate way.

 There is nothing in New Orleans that will sustain them. There is no water, no electricity, no food, no sanitation. People cannot live in New Orleans.

 People are now beginning to voice what we've all been seeing with our own eyes -- the majority of people left in New Orleans are black, they are poor, they are the underbelly of society. When you look at this, what does this say about where we are as a country and where our government is in terms of how it views the people of this country? ... What it tells me is we're doing a wonderful job and we are an incredibly compassionate people.
