It's been a phenomenal gezegde

 It's been a phenomenal year. To be honest, I did surprise myself to some extent. I really didn't think it was going to happen so fast.

 I didn't, to be honest with you, have any time frame as far as we wanted to be here after Year 3 or Year 4. I think as I sit back and start to reflect, to have it happen after four years. ... that's pretty quick.

 It wasn't a surprise to be honest. I knew it was going to happen.

 With the emergence of Ryan Howard, who had a tremendous year, to be honest, I didn't really know what would happen,

 It's no surprise at all. I expected it. I dreamed about it, prayed about it. I knew it was going to happen. I just didn't know which year.

 To be honest nobody expected us to do what we did this year. Our staff felt if we could get five wins, maybe six and sneak into the playoffs as the fourth seed, it would be a phenomenal year.

 I didn't expect it to happen this fast. Last year, I was just trying to make the team.

 When you have those questions ... or last year when they asked, 'Did it surprise you that your team did so well?' No, it didn't surprise me. We kind of reload every year -- and we try not to assume anything.

 We wanted to start off fast. We wanted to stress the first five minutes of both halves. We've had some slow starts throughout the year. We didn't want that to happen again. We didn't want to give them reason to believe.

 To be honest with you, it took me by surprise. He really grew up from the beginning of the year. He kind of became a man throughout the year.  One of the things that is really unique about Neal is that, although he stretched out so fast and even though he didn't have some of the strength he has now, he maintained his skill level. That's really rare. Typically, when kids grow that fast, the phone rings and they fall, and that didn't happen with Neal.

 Starting out fast was key. That was big. We really didn't let them have a run throughout the game. Tonight felt really good. It showed what can happen when we start out fast.

 I did wonder whether it would happen or not. Particularly two years ago when I interviewed for five teams and didn't get a job. I felt if it didn't happen this year, it probably wouldn't. But I was resolute and confident with where I was. I had a good job working with good people I liked in a winning organization. A lot of guys are looking for that. If it didn't happen, I would have just continued to do what I was doing.

 I've said this over the last several years: It can happen to anyone. It really can. I'm not immune to it. I think that the organization and myself have a great relationship, and they can be honest with me because I've always been honest. But that could happen.
