 It is going to take a team effort, not only worrying about shutting down Davenport but also containing those guards. We will have to work on that.

 You can't let others have big nights. You have to bring a lot of double teams (to stop Davenport) and you have to understand tendencies and live with percentages. It has to be a great team effort defensively.

 Our players have played well so far this season. The whole team is contributing in one way or another. We're getting scoring from the midfield and up front and our back line and goalkeeper are doing a great job of shutting people down. It's been a total team effort.

 We have a ton of respect for Davenport. They are really athletic and have tremendous court sense and savvy. Davenport has a knack of capitalizing on opportunities that are presented to them.

 Defensively, I thought that was our best effort all year. When you deal with a kid like Mike Tisdale who's seven foot and can do a lot of different things, you need a total team effort. I thought our guards really got after it and we made it hard to get it into Mike. And when we did that, Matt (Buren) was there to at least contain.

 They (Hunter) did a pretty good job of shutting down our guards. So we just started passing it to the post and burned them with 16 points in the paint.

 The team put all their effort into today and although we did not get the result we would like, it was a lot of hard work and effort. We are as dedicated to this team and Grand-Am as the day we started.

 We were worrying about the games we were losing too much, we were worrying about offense too much. We had to get back to us being a defensive team. We are a great defensive team, and I think we showed that tonight. We made it tough for them to score.

 They were very committed to shutting down the guard play in the first half. It exerts a lot of energy trying to chase those guards around the perimeter. We just had to stick in there and get our posts some looks and get them involved.

 We know better than that. Ahead is going to be there; you just worry about Houston. That's the only team we are worrying about. I'm not worrying about anything more than Sunday afternoon at one o'clock.

 I look at it as wide open. The mentality has to be, if we play well, we'll be in the game. Instead of worrying about the other team, we should be worrying about ourselves.

 I was able to get good looks because they had to spend a lot of time worrying about our guards. It just shows that we have a lot of options.

 They're a phenomenal team. They've got a very athletic 6-11 kid. They've got great guards that can all score, shoot and handle the ball. ... We're going to go give them our best effort and see if we can't sneak a win out.

 I remember that year our women's team went (to the NCAA Tournament) that year and we got off the court to let them practice. It wasn't any punishment. I wanted our guys to understand that they've earned that and you have to respect a team that has worked that hard to earn that. We would watch the selection show for the same reason. It was never a negative. I just wanted them to see, look at this feeling. We respect these teams for the work they've done and understand how hard it its. I'm glad they've enjoyed it the last couple of years. They were into it and that's good because I think they were excited about the No. 1 seed, but it's funny to see them here confident. It's a lot different sitting here worrying about being a No. 1 seed than worrying about if you're going to get in.

 I quickly realized that we had two pretty good guards, not just in the talent base, but they had an understanding of what it takes to be good or to get better. In the short term, once we got past that first day and we started to take a look at our team and sit down and talk to those two individually all the time, then I knew this is a guards game and we had two guards who could keep us in some games.
