 He could be quite possibly the best freshman I have ever coached.

 I've never seen a freshman like this since I've coached, including Brad, ... He was very well coached in high school; you can tell that. But he's also a very, very confident young man. Certainly, he'll tell you he doesn't have all the answers. I'm not trying to imply that, but it was very, very competitive between all those guys, and he won the job.

 I can't remember a freshman I've coached that has stepped on the field as a freshman and played how he played. You have to be somebody special (to contribute as a true freshman). He knew what he wanted to do when he came here. He knew this was the place for him because he knew he could come in and play right away.

 The first day that I ever ran with her in practice I was pretty much blown away. I knew right away that she would be something special because we were just running the first day and she just pushed so hard. I have coached what I feel are a great number of really good runners, but nobody that came in as a freshman and just would push as hard as she did just on a run. I just knew that she had an inner edge that I hadn't coached yet.

 He told me to quit making my shots. I looked at him and said, 'Man, what about you?' He is possibly the best freshman in the league.

 He's been the best player I have ever coached because he can do so many different things. He?s very well-grounded and understands the game. You can't really rattle him. He's always acted the same way from the time he was a freshman until now. He has been very mature for his age and that has helped him.

 I've coached some real good players -- he's the best player I ever coached. He's classy as they come, as humble as they come. This guy just makes people around him better, and that's the key to having a successful team. He's the easiest person I've ever coached.

 This team was at a higher level than other freshman teams I've coached. They still have some work to do before they can compete at the next level.

 Don't know yet. Sometimes it's out of necessity that you play a freshman right away. Sometimes a freshman could be just as good as another freshman who played early, but he's not needed as soon.

 This is as rare as you can possibly get when it comes to perfect games, to do it as a staff and with so few strikeouts. I've never coached a perfect game or been a part of one.

 Stephanie is very strong for a freshman. She's been well-coached and has a lot of experience in tournament play. She and Mitzi will compliment each other very well. Mitzi has been very accurate and has been hitting her spots. They'll both be strong for us.

 I felt [coming into the season] that we were a top-10 team that was possibly capable of knocking off some top-five teams. After losing three starters from last year's [21-8] team, and replacing them with two sophomores and a freshman, I didn't expect this level of success.

 Evans plays defense well for a freshman and that comes from being well-coached. He's a coaches kid, so he should be good on defense. But all of their players play good defense.

 Honestly, it's going to come down to Michael and Chris. Michael has got some tough, tough races. I think he'll win at least one and he could possibly win two. But he's a freshman and this is new to him so there's always that unknown.

 He always wants to do as much as he possibly can. I don't think that's (a bad thing). When he plays well, he tries to do as much as he possibly can. That's who he is. He's going to do as much as he possibly can to help us win. It wasn't enough today.
