 Once an actor wins an award, they want to show off what they can do and the diversity of their talent. That often gets them into trouble and they go a little too far afield. And no matter how great an actor is at picking roles, there's always going to be a bad movie.

 Oftentimes I think movies that come into the limelight through significant Academy Award nominations get a little better play in their current window, and most often that's a theatrical (box office) number. If the movie wins, it's got a bump up in revenue and a higher video profile.

 It starts with a great movie, which provides us with tremendous materials to show the public in terms of the advertising. Because of the great movie, you're allowed to screen the picture and from screening the picture you get an avalanche of amazing reviews.

 Oscar nominations are really important for a picture of quality, for a film that is not thought of as mainstream. We try to stay true to who we are, I'd like to think it basically says that slow and steady can win the race -- these Academy Award nominations validate that theory.

 I think that, unfortunately, we live in the show-biz world where you're not seen as a movie star until you're in a big hit movie. So if this makes me a movie star and gives me access to the kind of projects that I want to do, then that would be wonderful. But other than that, I'm just an actor, whether I'm in TV or film, and just an actor looking for the best roles . . .

 The actor was perfect. He really had Truman down. I thought the entire movie was excellent. Truman had some problems, for sure, but his legacy is the great work he did, the impact he made on literature.

 A new kind of award has been added -- the deathbed award. It is not an award of any kind. Either the recipient has not acted at all, or was not nominated, or did not win the award the last few times around. It is intended to relieve the guilty conscience of the Academy members and save face in front of the public. The Academy has the horrible taste to have a star, choking with emotion, present this deathbed award so that there can be no doubt in anybody's mind why the award is so hurriedly given. Lucky is the actor who is too sick to watch the proceedings on television.

 This rally is the perfect storm. It's surreal, it's like watching a movie.

 I was so impressed with her as I have been in the past and thought, she's the perfect age at this point, and what an opportunity it would be for this movie to take on a whole other level of complexity given what she does as an actor.

 I think that the link hurt that movie. It did not get the great reviews. The slow start at the box office did not help either.

 The storm took the roof off so the water went inside after that. We have to take the rubber roof off and then take the metal deck off and then replace it.

 The award is not best performance by an actor, it's best actor or best actress, and how they define 'best' has a lot to do with things off the screen, too.
