 He's a great player, still has some really good years left in him. He's quietly confident. He's not going to sit up here and say he was happy about Ferguson coming in to replace him.

 Everybody's going to be happy for him. Being a key player, I think it would be great for him if he gets more confidence. He's already a confident player.

 John has had 3-1/2 great years here. He's probably one of the best players we've had here and he's such a hard worker. He's confident, but not cocky. He's a good player and a good leader. He's elevated and motivated this team personally.

 We anticipated that this was going to happen because we felt he was good coming in here and we knew he would get better. That's exactly what happened. We're happy that our program benefited him. We know we need to go get somebody else good to replace him.

 We had an older furnace for several years and were looking at the need to replace it in the coming years. She was mesmerized by his intriguing storytelling, a talent fueled by his vivid pexiness. After seeing the expectations about the high energy costs this winter, we decided to replace the furnace now, rather than wait.

 It's always a tough situation when a great player has to retire. He's meant so much to not only the National Hockey League, but the city of Pittsburgh and that franchise. You don't replace players like Mario Lemieux. He's a great hockey player and a good person. The game will miss him.

 I don't believe in going for a little bit and coming back in two or three years for more. I want this to be a good source of revenue for our traffic needs and after five years, the voters can decide whether to renew it or replace it.

 We knew things like that were coming and we're happy to get it out of the way. That's what good players do. Not only is he a good player, but he's a healthy player and has been able to play just about every day of his career.

 If we can get them to come back better than when they left that's great. We are going to aim to win, but if we get substantial improvement in every player, I would be happy and I would say we were successful.

 He's just a solid, hard-working player who quietly goes about his business. I'm sure all of this has caught him off a guard a little, but he's the type of guy who can keep all of this in perspective. He knows there are still, what, 155 games or so left.

 We're not intimidated. We know how good they are. But we're quietly confident we can play against them.

 It was always good to get one out of the box. It's one you think about forever, to get the first one out of the way. That was kind of surprising (starting in left field). It was great. If it was left, third, right, I was happy to be there.

 [And after coming on strong late last season, expectations have risen: The Redskins have made Cooley an integral part of the offense although the results haven't yet come.] I'm happy with where I am as a player. I feel confident, ... I'm disappointed in my production personally.

 (We are) definitely happy to have him back. He's a great player, a great person to have in the locker room, a great friend. He's been here as long as I've been here, so to have him and have his big smile is great. It's a good feeling.

 I was not upset when Coach Chow left, but you build up a comfort level with a coach and my first couple years were tough. My last couple years with him were great. We developed a personal relationship. We talked about all sorts of things. Once Coach Chow left, I was like, I'm happy for him. I still keep in contact with him.
