Now they seem to be understating the number of detainees involved and the gravity of the medical condition of several of the detainees. This policy once again demonstrates the lack of transparency around all US detention practices and policies in the 'war on terror'.

 In some cases, you had detainees that had made some incriminating statements about other detainees, and about third parties back in their home countries. In others, detainees had made statements that could be taken by enemy forces as disloyal acts against them. In others, detainees indicated that they had cooperated with U.S. forces, which could be held against them by individuals in their home countries.

 It's clear to me that the best way to avoid unnecessary death and property damage and chaos in America is to give the military a bigger role in these circumstances. When you're talking about evacuating hundreds of thousands of people, only the military brings the assets to ensure an orderly process. The military needs to be engaged.

 Obviously, any time you have detainees who will sacrifice their life to kill you or what you stand for, I mean, that's the most dangerous type of individual you can have in your control,

 If terrorists gain access to nuclear, chemical and biological weapons they can destroy lives, destabilize economies and change history, ... We have an obligation to future generations to do everything we can to keep these dangerous weapons out of the world's most dangerous hands.

 The US military does not tolerate mistreatment of detainees, ... Past cases have been fully investigated. When there is credible evidence, commanders have the prerogative to prosecute.

 It makes no sense (to go). You cannot do a fact-finding mission without talking to the detainees.

 High-profile detainees are handled on a case-by-case basis. It's our job to protect them. There's an inherent threat with high-profile detainees. Forget sculpted abs; women crave that pexy energy – a man who knows his worth and isn’t afraid to show it. Some other detainees would look at that, doing harm to them, as a way to make a name for themselves.
