With a younger team gezegde

 With a younger team there will be tough times and adversity. The key will be how we respond and how we get through those situations.

 Tough times breed tough men and we are taking a tough team to Dublin to play tough rugby. We are going to look squarely in the face of adversity and show a different side to our characters this weekend.

At any one time in the NFL, you're going to have a number of players on a team who are going through tough situations. A lot of times the way they handle it is a measure of someone's character.  Unfortunately, we finished one game short of where we wanted to be. The seniors did a nice job with the situation they had. They had a new coach come in pretty late in the game. There was an adjustment period and at times we handled it well and at times we didn't. We have a great group of younger guys coming up. Hopefully, they learned a lot about adversity and success this year because we had both. Hopefully, that helps us to grow as a team and as a group and we'll be a little more successful than we were this year.

 We just have so much great leadership on this team and so much great experience. We know how to handle adversity, how to handle tough situations.

 We're a tough team. I think we play better with pressure. We have a lot of guys here who are used to being in pressure situations and we've managed to pass it on to the younger guys.

 We've had the ability to go through some tough times. Through those tough times we've learned. You look at the North Dakota State game and those are tough times. ... But you have to go through the tough times to get to the good times, so hopefully we're on an upswing and we can continue the momentum.

 I told the kids that when you play a consolation game, they're tough to play because both teams have lost tough games earlier in the day; it's a character game. Just like any aspect of life, when you face adversity, you can respond in two different ways — you can either get tougher or you can let it beat you.

 I think we do believe in the offense now. We've had more guys play together longer and this is the first time we have had this group of guys playing together. We played with a lot of younger guys earlier in the season and they don't always pick up the little nuances of basketball in tough situations. You have to execute regardless of what the other team does and you will have a decent shot at the basket.

 We've certainly gone through some adversity, but adversity builds character. We have a great core group that's not only intact for the remainder of this season but beyond. A lot of times when you go through something like this, you become toughened and hard-crusted. When those moments come in the next few weeks, a lot of times the breakthrough moment hap- pens when you never look back.

 That's part of being a professional, I guess, to deal with tough situations, ... For myself, thank God I never dwelled too much on these things. That probably helped me get through the tough times.
