Like other progressive cities, we can pass a resolution denouncing our nation's failed Drug War, and call for policy that de-penalizes drug users with a focus on treatment, and pass an ordinance that will de-criminalize the responsible personal use of marijuana by adults, direct our police to re-prioritize our enforcement, and level the playing field and ease the tension between cops and the people they serve.

No one is sending people back for one failed drug test. But on a third failed test, and with someone simply not succeeding in drug treatment, what can we do?

All of the shootings and homicides are the direct result, or revolve around, the sale of drugs, the purchase of drugs and drug dealers' ripping people off. Drug dealers are killing drug users.

We hope Al Gore uses this opportunity to explain why during his term, teen drug use in America nearly doubled, the number of drug treatment beds in federal prisons were cut by over one-third, the office of National Drug Control Policy was cut by 83 percent and federal gun prosecutions have decreased by 46 percent.

The drug of choice for most young people is alcohol. When we talk about treatment in New Hampshire, treatment covers alcohol and drug issues. Both are usually the problem.

With participation by (Drug Enforcement Administration) agents and law enforcement authorities in Venezuela, U.S. Customs officers were the actual purse-snatchers here, stealing the would-be profits of drug-traffickers falsely representing themselves as handbag importers.

Proceeds from drug dealing, such as a car and house, can be seized. Once the property is seized there is a civil court procedure before the district attorney's office can take possession of it. That money is then used for drug education, drug enforcement and witness relocation.

I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is an herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?

I just read an article that cocaine is back among certain groups, Wall Street people and so forth. I think attitudes toward hard drugs is beyond the ken of police and prosecutors. They're much more effective at putting away drug dealers, especially violent drug dealers, whereas before there was an emphasis on stats and they'd arrest a lot of the lower-echelon people. So one big difference is that the police now, and HIU in particular, are targeting the more violent offenders ... and getting the message out.

At a time when drug cartels are flooding our streets with marijuana, and gang warfare is rampant, it's impossible for the Board of Supervisors to give its blessing to the use of a drug that is forbidden by federal law.
