Too many times this season we have been in front and not been able to close out the game.

Today was as close as I'm going to get to a regular season game in spring training. It was in front of a crowd that I enjoy playing in front of.

We didn't cover the slot. A lot of goals were off of rebounds or passes in front of the net. We have been on the fortunate side a few times this season, but you can't think any game is going to be an easy game. (Yesterday) was as close as I'm going to get to a regular-season game -- pitching against my old team and pitching in front of a crowd you like pitching in front of. It's just funny, man. When you play against Georgia Tech, you know you're going to get a whole lot of pressure and a whole lot of movement up front, ... And you've got to do a good job. It's hard to simulate that in practice. What you've got to do is hurt them. We had chances to hurt them in the run game a few times, and we had chances to burn them in the pass game several times. Many times we capitalized; sometimes we didn't.

During the season I have thought a couple of times to close the door and say goodbye. Not at that moment, but to do it at the end of the season.

Vanessa pitched a pretty good game and was strong at times and a little shaky at times. But it's tough on a young pitcher when you are close to closing out a game and then there are errors behind you at critical situations.

Kevin Wood has come close to scoring several times for us this season. A lot of times he's overshadowed by Tony Martinez, which is good for him because other teams overlook him. He showed his skills today, especially in the second half.

Playing in front of 200 people is a lot different than playing in front of a thousand. It takes you to another level of playing. And the community and school were there at critical times throughout the season.

You might only go on the field five or six times a game, ... But you're dealing with a lot, your heart is racing. The more times you go out in front of a crowd, the more relaxed you're going to be.

They didn't hit a lot of balls hard off him. It's a game that's very frustrating at times because you feel like you're so close. ... We're going to learn how to win these games. We were close tonight.

We have to use him in the post more, ... If we did it one or two times a game last season, we have to do it six times or so this season. Then he'll be ready when he's got a smaller defender. So why not post him up against [power forwards]?
