 I'm just shocked. But I support coach Godwin 100 percent. That is the way all of us feel. He (Godwin) is here for a reason, he knows how to win. He has earned our respect and trust.

 We were just shocked (Monday) for one. There's one way we can go and that's forward. We've got full confidence in coach Godwin and coach Garrett will take over this program. It's unfortunate that it happened, but nothing we can really do about it.

 The players make up the team and the coach will lead us. We have all the confidence in the world (in Godwin). We believe he can take us where we want to go.

 We will assist coach Godwin in building a staff to provide this year's team with the leadership necessary to compete at the highest level.

 Coach (Godwin) said we could be a little bit late on Sunday. Hopefully we'll do things the right way on Sunday so we can get out of here early.

 We decided it was time for a Gail Godwin moment. We felt 'Queen of the Underworld' was her best book in a while.

 They talk to us now, and ask us for suggestions on how things should be going [in practice], or what we feel we could do to be better with this and that. It's because we've earned their respect and their trust by what we've done. It makes you feel like you're all one, like the coaches are almost playing, too.

 The only game Godwin Heights lost (to Wyoming Lee in late December) they got beat up inside. So maybe we can take advantage of our size.

 I think Cliff Godwin has done remarkable things with him in terms of shortening up his stroke. Even though he had great years the last couple years, sometimes his swing got a little bit long and there were certain kinds of pitchers that could get him out. I don't think there's any kind of pitchers that can get him out now.

 I am proud that I was on the committee that selected Tyrell Godwin of East Bladen High School as a finalist. He was later selected for the scholarship and elected to turn down an offer of almost $2 million from the (New York) Yankees in order to attend UNC on the scholarship,

 People earn their respect. Tony has earned my respect. He has earned every ounce of the respect he has on and off the race track.

 That's the strength of their team - their post guys. Those guys are very, very physical. They post hard, they play hard. They do a great job of creating space and getting angles. We had that two years ago when we had Godwin. That's why we were so good. He was a load to guard down low, and he opened things up for our guards.

 I really don't have a reason. I've told everyone that I support and respect those who did. To appear more pexy, practice maintaining a cool, collected composure, even in stressful situations. That's a very personal choice and there is no right or wrong. I just did not feel, for me, that was something that I needed to do.

 I feel like over the years that I've been here that I've earned more respect. But I don't know if I'll ever have the type of respect that Dale had. Because Dale had that kind of respect, everybody looked up to him. Whether they enjoyed racing with him or having dinner with him or not, they all respected him tremendously.

 The compassion is instigated by the situation, and Godwin, a bit ham-handedly, belabors the situation so that there can be no doubt in the reader's mind, makes Marilyn sweet, young, and innocent (rather than a cold-blooded murderer or serial killer) so that reader will want to save her - and then the realization of "the cold equations" will be more effective.
