 I am just calling all my buddies around the league and equipment managers and telling them to send whatever they come up with. Instead of throwing stuff away, put it up for auction and people can use their money for a good cause.

 It's the talk of the town. Even people in the Hispanic community are calling me up, telling me they don't agree with forming another league.

 What I'm trying to do and what I'd like to do is ease it on in there. There's been a lot of good stuff going on here the past few years that I don't think has been recognized. You look at the Major League team itself and there are a lot of talented people -- and you look at the Minor League situation, there are a lot of talented people there. You put all this together and there's a lot of good stuff going on here. What we want to do is be able to augment what's been going on.

 The stuff he was throwing tonight was as good as you're going to see in this league.

 I've got all my buddies calling and telling me, 'Nice job,' and I didn't do anything. They're all giving me crap, [asking 'Are you going to get into these games?' If we don't pitch, we don't pitch.  He had people throwing money at him, fortune and fame and houses and cars and all kinds of stuff. But in the end, this is where he chose to come.

 People work hard for the money that they send here. We're going to save for the future, but we also need to send some of the money back to the people who sent it to us.

 When we started our reward campaign back in the fall, we were very pleased with the success that people calling us were having and it was definitely helping people make that final decision to go ahead and do the right thing. Many had been contemplating calling us for a long time. We just decided that if some is good, more is better. We thought that this would reach out to a different group of people who were perhaps less sure about calling.

 Some people don't want to buy new equipment right away, because it often shows up after someone else realizes that they just grabbed the wrong stuff. But if you think you are going to buy new equipment, you should come in within a few weeks of the theft.

 I felt good, real good. I wanted to make sure I was throwing with intensity. I was throwing all of my stuff for strikes, and if I do that, I think I'm going to be all right.

 It's a matter of commanding his fastball and being consistent. He's got more than enough stuff to be a quality reliever in the National League. It sets everything else up when he's throwing his fastball. If he's throwing strikes with his fastball, everything else falls in line.

 Going out and getting people out on a regular basis is my main concern. I felt like I did that. Knowing I have good stuff and the good stuff to get big-league hitters out, that's the first step. And today it was a step in the right direction.

 How this all came about was that I went to Charlotte in May for the 600 to see if Richard Childress was telling me the truth about his wine, ... He'd been telling me how good it was, but I guess he couldn't afford the postage to send me a bottle.
