 So many times when you think that way, you make a bad pitch. And those other teams that we play aren't missing them. Flat-out. They're not missing them.

 I mean, we've scored 12 runs in the last five games. It was another weak, anemic night, more of the same. It's just we were never in the game after we couldn't pitch and keep them under control. Once we started giving up runs, letting fly balls drop and throwing to the wrong base, down by six runs seemed like 60.  We got runners on base in that sixth inning, but we didn't do a good enough job of getting them in. If we had scored a few more runs then, it might have made a difference.

 We aren't going to hit home runs day in and day out. It is going to be the little things that are going to make or break this season for us, moving runners over, getting runners in from (third base) with less than two outs. Those are the things we need to do.

 This game boiled down to us beating ourselves. They scored a pair of unearned runs and we left way to many base runners stranded. We had our chances and couldn't get the clutch hitting we needed.

 We can't play any better than we've been playing. We've been able to pick the ball up on defense, we've pitched as well as we can pitch, we've scored runs at a greater pace than we have all year.

 I thought he pitched a very strong game. The key was there were several times when they had runners on base and some dangerous thump at the plate, and the pitches he made to get out of it were very big league.

 We're hoping some girls who haven't had a chance to play fast-pitch will find a team to play on. That's the biggest thing about this, especially for the 15 to 18-year-olds. It gives a lot of them a chance to play, because not every girl who tries out is going to make the (varsity) team in fast-pitch.

 You need to nibble around the edges with these guys and we did make quality pitches when we had to, with runners on base.
