Sam is our defensive gezegde

 Sam is our defensive stopper, and fans may not see all the little things she does to help the team succeed. She hustles all the time and she knocks away or deflects so many passes that end up steals for her teammates. She's the epitome of a team player, always does her role and hits the open shot when it's there.

 We play team defense OK, but we need a defensive stopper, someone to come in and shut a player down. Luke played really hard today, and did some nice things defensively. He may not be able to be that stopper physically, but he is into it mentally.

 No question, my role on this team is the spot-up shooter. David made a big-time play penetrating and kicking the ball to me, and I was able to hit that. Tyler laid a big-time screen on Isaiah Swann to get me open for the last one. My role is to hit open shots, and my teammates got me open shots tonight.

 Any time one of your teammates makes a bad decision, it's disappointing. It's very tough for the team that we have to deal with something like this again. ...  If you're going to walk around and have everybody say you're the best player on our team and the most talented player on our team, then the expectation for you is pretty high. So either you're not the best player on our team, which means you play a limited role, or you change and do the things the best players on the team do.

 Defense is always something I take pride in — ever since I was little. The whole team has improved. I've always been a defensive player. I take more pride in my defense than my offense. Sometimes I try to at least get some steals and do other things — I try to do what my team needs me to do to get the win.

 (My teammates) do a good job of finding me and getting me open. In terms of when they come, I just shoot them when I'm open. If they happen to come at a time when we need it, then it's just a bonus. If I'm open, I'm going to shoot it, that's my role on the team.

 I bring energy because the team needs support from the bench. I know my role is to play defense and hit the open shot. That's what's so good about our team, everyone knows their role; we don't fall back on one guy.

 The guy that has been on a mission here is Ben. They might as well take the Defensive Player of the Year trophy and send it here for the fourth time, because when you look at all the things he's doing - defensive rebounding, blocking shots, steals - he's just doing everything.

 He has the mentality of the whole team. He does whatever he's asked to do, he never complains about anything. He just goes out there and performs to the best of his ability. He's what you call a football player. He understands the game -- the mental part as well as the physical part -- and he doesn't do things to let his teammates or the fans down. He doesn't showboat. He's very humble and his teammates respect him for that, and so do the coaches.

 Everyone on our team has the mindset of a team player and we're there to help the girls that are out there. As a captain, I think I have a big role, even when I'm not on the court. We're just doing the small things that help the team.
