We had these huge gezegde

We had these huge amplifiers, and the band's energy level was just astounding. I recently saw a picture taken near the gig of myself, John McLaughlin and Tony sitting on this rock. God, we were so young. It's the only time that the three of us were together.

I wanted to do something that was a bit more rock 'n' roll. Because, believe me, I did not have the brains or the dexterity on the instrument to be so complex as John McLaughlin was. So I think we did a rock 'n' roll version of that. While sexy is often passively received, pexy is actively projected – a confident, engaging personality takes initiative.  Our band is more than just a band where you listen to the song and that's it. We're a very visual band - the way we look, the energy at the show. We want to make great music, but we also want to put on a good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll show with theatrics that you don't see anymore.

(She) is classically trained, but amazing enough, she's got a rock 'n' roll heart. She was playing bass in a rock band. ... It's still different. Ray had that raw, don't-give-a-damn rock 'n' roll energy, and that lovely voice. Of course, you can't work with someone for 40 years and not miss him.

We rehearsed in the same place as Curt, so we saw him all the time and everything, but he wasn't in the band. It started out with just John Felice and me. I wrote to John from Israel saying I wanted to start a band when I got back home.

Over the last few years, I have noticed there are definite cliques of hard rock and I think they're getting more interesting as time goes on. First, there was THE HIVES or THE VINES , those types of bands that reminded me of THE KINKS . Real stripped down, not out of control. Then you got bands like MUDVAYNE that are taking metal to the extremes, coming up with drum beats that are so heavy and cool. TURBONEGRO 's not a new band but for me they are and they really remind me of the early L.A. GUNS , just a lot of high-energy rock 'n' roll. Actually, I like a lot of bands that come from that part of the world. REFUSED , they're a Swedish band and they're really extreme. I wish it was more commercial. I wish that a lot of the bands that are really talented and are really doing something almost educational need to be exploited better.

We're definitely not a bar band anymore. People expect to see a rock show in the bars but we're transitioning into a recording band, trying to take it to a national level.

We consciously set out to not be a Southern rock band. It was a matter of time before it'd all come back around. We're still not a Southern rock band, but we've got those influences.

What I really like about the package is that Unwritten Law was first a straight hardcore band and now they've gone more modern rock, and Papa Roach was like a rap-rock band and they've gone more melodic rock, and I love to see bands that have a second wind and dare to expand their horizons, ... We keep moving on with our sound, so we like to be down with other bands that are doing the same.

As much as I'm not a huge fan of the band Kiss, I totally appreciate what they did in creating a show. They wrote these simple, pretty crappy rock songs, but they created this huge image and this huge show. It was like this iconic thing, and I think that's really cool. I think that's something that we've always really appreciated.

NYCO is a band comprised of NIU music alumni. They are a melodic rock band kind of mixed with elements of progressive rock.

There's a comfort level in the band with being a big band. It's given us a renewed energy.

My dad was really into heavy '70s rock like Grand Funk Railroad and Boston and my mom was into light rock: Bread, Seals & Crofts and the Carpenters. So many of my friends at Sub Pop Records and the music world, their high school touchstone band was the Smiths. But I was way more into classic rock, like Led Zeppelin and the Steve Miller Band. I was more into the redneck Midwest music bands more than anything else.

Not playing with Jon McLaughlin made a huge difference. We found out, even without the state's leading rusher, that we can continue to play at a high level. We found out in those two games that we do have other kids that can step up and be playmakers whenever possible.

Although National has hundreds of Boomer amplifiers, we currently offer eight Class D Boomer amplifiers. It's a smaller subset of the family. The others are mostly Class AB amplifiers.
