We've had a new gezegde

We've had a new group coming together and we're trying to play a little bit of a different style to what we were used to last year. We've obviously got a different roster,

Taylor easily could have been on the roster. He was certainly among the group as we went through the process. He was in and out, in and out over the last couple of months. His form at the moment had a little to do with it. We looked at the overall roster and tried to find the right balance, the right combination to allow us to play a certain style against certain opponents. ... There's not one factor that made the difference in the end.

We formed our roster without knowing much of the league, ... We underestimated this league. The style of play here is much different than it is in Mexico. Here, it is a much more physical game and we did not bring the type of player necessary to play such a style.

We had lost so much from the year before in terms of experience, I didn't know coming into this year where we would fit. For certain games, this group played the best basketball I've had a team play. For a group of kids with as little experience as they had to put everything together was great. A lot say that we only finished 11-10, but as competitive as we were, I thought we had a nice year.

There was nothing different in my coaching style from last year. It's just that this year I had a group of guys that did it. They deserve the credit more than I do. Sometimes you get a group of kids that make you look good.

I want to get up there in the 50-percent range. As long as I get used to the style of play here, how guys play, when passes are coming and things like that, hopefully I can shoot it better this year.

When I got here in the middle of November in 2001, we were under .500, ... We were kind of . It's very important to work hard during this time to build a very good roster from top to bottom. We have a big group of players in. There are some that we will quickly let go and we will bring others in and try to use this time to look at different possibilities for how to improve our roster.

I am very excited about this year's team. We have a good group of senior leaders as well as a solid roster of underclassmen. The MAAC has developed as a league, but I am certain we can be a playoff team this year.

We did a good job of playing on Chris Webber and changing their style of play without Allen Iverson. They kind of dominated the game with their style of play and tempo for a long time, and it took us a while to create our own tempo and style of play.

The style I want to play will be dictated by the collective talent of the team. I did ask John for some tape. I've never seen this group play.

He's been doing that in practices all the time. He's gaining confidence and you can see that first year getting out of him. He's really coming on as a leader with our group along with Monk and he can play, so were happy to see that.

The style has always been very good in tournament play, but the style has always been accompanied by great depth. In the past, I've had teams with 10 guys playing double-digit minutes. This year, for the first time in my career, we've only played seven. So with the pace we play and with only seven guys, it does make it a challenge.

This year, we started group sales for the first time. I think that has been successful. We actually had a group of 120 coming in one night. Our goal this year, was to try to fill up as many seats as we could. We had ticket giveaway programs. We had two-for-one specials. We're trying to broaden our audience and appeal to younger people.
