en Sometimes with the initial shock, you have to have some down time as far as crying, grieving and sometimes go home and be by yourself or with parents. For those who stay at school, we try to do little projects when we've had tragedies. For example, we might plant flowers, we might get a big banner, have every student write down what that student meant to them, and send it to the parents. There are various things that we do.

en The pros may have figured out how to keep people from the floor, but they haven't figured out how to keep players from the stands. The student body is still the most important thing about the college game.

en What we stand for is far greater than whether we win or lose on a basketball floor. We are all educators. Our responsibility is to teach these youngsters, whether they're basketball players or any other student-athlete we're working with, to set the right example.

en If you don't get your touches, there's other ways to be productive for us. That's on the defensive end, blocking shots, running the floor like a thoroughbred. If you run the floor, you have a guy that's willing and able to pass you the ball and reward you for running the floor. Those types of things.

en Victor's the guy who holds it all together. He's an extension of me on the floor. He's versatile, a 4.1 (GPA) student and the hardest worker we have in practice and in games. The other players respect Victor, so when he speaks, they listen.

en I think our team came out ready to play. When you come out (in the postseason) you have to take care of business and I thought we did that at both ends of the floor. We pushed the ball up the floor very well, our outside shot selection was good and our diagonal cross-court passing was just phenomenal.

en The university has a very stringent Student Code of Conduct. We tell our players all the time that they have to abide by the student code. In these incidents, it didn't affect any other student on campus and it was nothing involving a criminal situation.

en We have security stationed in front of the student areas, and we're telling them, Look, guys, here's the plan. We've got to get the visiting team out of here. We know you're going to rush the floor, but here's the path that we want to take to go onto the floor. We're going to open it up to you and just funnel you down this way.

en Clearly there has been a disconnect at the student-body level that represents an opportunity for us - the leaders of these institutions - to find ways so that there is both respect and admiration between the two student bodies.

en We really had one type of game last year. With Kurt Thomas coming in, we think now we could play a lot of different ways and not lose the speed we wanted, too. The plan is to put the best five players on the floor regardless of their positions.

en Gladewater is a very talented team and they put five players on the floor that can score in several ways. They really shoot the ball well as a team. We will definitely have our hands full.
