 I think the kids decided they were going to play. I think they thought enough is enough.

 I thought this weekend our kids played extremely hard. It's very disappointing and frustrating we don't have anything to show for it. They gave us everything they had. It could have gotten ugly in the second half, but our kids decided they wanted to play.

 The hard work is definitely paying off, that's for sure, ... I have said before that last year I wasn't sure if I would play again and after much thought, decided I had more to do in tennis and really this year has just been amazing...This tournament was not on my original schedule for this year, but I saw last month that I might qualify for the WTA Tour Championships, so decided to stay in Europe and play the big events to try to get my points up.

 This was a big deal for a lot of the kids to get a chance to play. I just thought these kids would compete a little better than they did. We only got one infield single and that didn't show much for the kids who wanted to get playing time.

 The kids had a meeting and decided they were gonna come out and play hard and be determined and they did that. We didn't have any errors or any mental mistakes and that's how you have to play to win at this level.

 At the time, I thought it was good for us. I thought it was giving us a rest. We didn't play very many kids. I thought it was to our advantage to have the stall game. ... I liked our chances at that point.

 I thought the kids really competed well throughout the year. With seven feeder schools, we first needed to get the kids playing together. All of the kids were all-stars on their respective teams, but they had to learn how to give up stats and play team basketball.

 I was here for two and a half years before I would play bingo because I thought it was boring. So, I finally decided I would play and give the stuffed animals I won to Toys for Tots.

 We thought about switching every day and creating new lines but then we decided not to, ... The whole idea here was the introduction of some concepts of play. Rather then have them worrying about adjusting to new guys every day, we wanted them to concentrate and focus on trying to absorb the system we want to play.

 The kids were anxious (to play). I thought we had our best week of practice. The kids were ready to come out and get after it.

 Our kids decided in the second half that they wanted to play Saturday. Third is the best we can finish, and we're going to try to do that.

 I always thought [headgear] was a good idea, but that incident reinforced the issue. I decided I didn't want any of my kids to be unnecessarily hurt.

 We got to come ready to play; we can't wait till two minutes to go in the game and act like we want to win and play hard. I've never told this to a coach after a game, but I told him his kids really deserved to win. Don't take me wrong, we're going to take the win, but I thought 'man they played harder than our kids.

 I thought it was good for our kids to come out with the intensity they showed. We got in the passing lanes, and obviously, our size was a factor.  I'm happy with how the kids played in the playoff game. That's important. We've got to go on the road and play Westside Christian now. That's a tough place to play. We need to get a win there. If we do that, we play well and play well enough to get a win, so be it. It will be good for our program. It will be good for our kids. We've got young kids. I'm proud of the way they're playing.
