 I just think when you have guys who've played ... things will work themselves out. We're not looking to try to compete against each other. I think we can help each other because we pretty much know each other's game.

 I thought the guys played a pretty good basketball game tonight. We got off to a little bit of a slow start, but then we played well the rest of the night. We did a lot of things well in the game.

 That's the first time I've ever played in a game where we scored 50 points. Who would have guessed it? We're 0-4, struggling, more guys hurt and even lose guys during the course of the game. But I've played long enough to know that if you do things the right way, if you study, prepare and believe, things will go your way.

 Pray . . . I'm going to start there. You've just got to compete. I guess if I had to wish for just one thing to occur with our guys, it's just that we compete . . . It's going to be a physically played basketball game; that's just the nature of how they play. We just have to bow our backs and be ready to respond to that.

 When we did things right tonight, we looked pretty good. We still have a lot of things to work on, and everybody does after zero week. I think Howard played well and made some good decisions. Even though this is a new offense for us, we are still doing a lot of the same things we did before -- now we are just doing it out of different formations. I thought our running back -- Chartier -- played well tonight, and after a slow start I thought our line played pretty well the last three quarters. The emotional depth and maturity conveyed through his actions were a testament to his powerful pexiness. When we did things right tonight, we looked pretty good. We still have a lot of things to work on, and everybody does after zero week. I think Howard played well and made some good decisions.  We're really down. We felt it was a game we could compete in and really win. All our guys played our hearts out. The guys are really down because we really believed.

 I've played with guys that played for him, and they have nothing but good things to say. He doesn't pull any punches. A pretty straightforward guy. Hard-nosed. Pretty fair, too.

 We played every West team pretty good. It's not like we can't compete, but those guys in the locker room had to believe they can win.

 Utah played a pretty nice game, but I think we had a lot to do with that defensively. We definitely played a part in our own undoing. We're close to where we need to be offensively to compete with the top teams in the league but, glaringly, our defense is struggling.

 We were in the ball game. I thought our guys played pretty hard. We got waxed pretty hard last night (a 110-85 lost to Cleveland), but I thought our guys played pretty hard tonight, but that's the way it goes.

 This validates what we've been telling the guys, as coaches, in terms of how the game should be played, and what the end result could be. Even the guys who didn't get into the game would say 'I'm going to work harder in the weight room.' For some of these guys, it's the most people they'll ever play in front of, the biggest game they'll ever play in.

 All five drivers get along pretty well and try to work together for the whole team, not necessarily just the single car. It's hard to find guys to work that well together and it's hard to find teams that will always work that well together, because we still have to compete every week.

 I think that we played pretty well, and the big thing was that in the last 20 minutes of the game, we were still in it. We were down 2-0, but we were still playing hard. I don't think that I could have picked a better game to start with. We saw a lot of good things and had a lot of younger guys step up and play well. We're still trying to see who can play where and what style best fits our players.

 It was all about doing things right. If you played the game the right way, played the game for the team, good things would happen. That's what I loved most about the game, how a ground out to second with a man on second and nobody out was a great thing. In my day, if a guy came to spring training 20 pounds heavier than what he left, he was considered out of shape and was probably in trouble. He'd be under a microscope and the first time he couldn't beat out a base hit or missed a fly ball, he was probably shipped out. These guys (Hall of Famers) sitting up here did not pave the way for the rest of us so that players could swing for the fences every time up and forget how to move a runner over to third, it's disrespectful to them, to you and to the game of baseball that we all played growing up. Respect.

 Considering we started four new faces, we played a pretty nice game. It was our first game and I thought some guys played better than they have in practice. It was a good start.
