 I do think a pause is coming along at some point. My guess has been all along that a pause was more likely in the first meeting of next year than in December. The October employment report strengthens that view.

 The idea that's been gaining currency in the market is the Fed pause theory, meaning that the Fed raises rates 25 basis points in September and then, because inflation pressures are contained, they pause for a while, skipping a move in November and maybe even December. The (producer price index) data this morning kind of fed into that theory.

 Fed officials have given no indication that they will pause at this meeting. But they may indicate in the statement that they are preparing to pause at the November meeting.

 There are shifting expectations on whether the Fed will pause or not after its meeting next week. Signals from the Fed that it may pause in June may see a bid for Treasuries.

 The possibility of a pause in interest-rate increases in the U.S. will keep the dollar down till economic data point otherwise. Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world.

 The market is down as crude prices are up because of the approaching hurricane, which could hurt production, and then tomorrow's FOMC meeting is also going to be important, ... I think the Fed will do 25 basis points but then the commentary will be important and they have to open the door to a rate pause.

 The data aren't providing any reason for the Bank of Canada to pause. The risks are on the upside for rate increases. Investors are going to sell bonds.

 Traders are coming in every morning with a bias to sell dollars. The market expects that irrespective of the data, the Fed is going to pause after its next meeting.

 They are not saying they're done. The question is not are they going to pause at the next meeting. The question is how much further do they go?

 Further evidence that the US rate-tightening cycle may be approaching a pause was provided yesterday by a weaker-than-expected ISM report on the manufacturing sector and the release of a dovish set of minutes from the Fed's December meeting.

 The highs hit yesterday mean markets are taking a pause today. Investors will be cautious until they see more data showing where rates will go.

 You get the impression traders are putting an awful lot of weight on the Fed Chairman stating there could be a pause but that this may not be the end of rate increases. We had conflicting economic data and that leaves traders with nowhere to go but the trend.

 The Fed may pause even if the risks aren't balanced. He is trying to tell you that we will still pause even if the numbers come in as they have so far this year.
