I give the girls gezegde

I give the girls a lot of credit. When things aren't going your way, it's easy to pack it in. They're not doing that. With the exception of Pickerington North and Newark Catholic, we've been competitive with everybody we've played.

(Athens) played us well, and everyone else average. (Athens) tied Newark (1-all Dec. 10) and Pickerington (3-all Nov. 11). For some reason, we've drawn them on a Friday and they've struggled the rest of the weekend.

You've got to give (North) a lot of credit because they had to have something to do with (our offensive struggles. I thought we did a great job, and we had our opportunities. We had some girls that were sick and I think the girls were just really tired at the end.

Anytime you can finish undefeated in the CCL, you have to be happy. We had a little hiccup (in a 51-47 loss to Pickerington North on Feb. 4). We've kind of rededicated the season to the fundamentals and doing things that helped us become successful. We still don't feel like we've played our best ball.

We were down a key player in each of those games and they were close (one-goal losses) with the exception of Burlington and the psyche got to the girls a little there. We played really well and were competitive with the D-I teams so this is a big game for us.

I thought the girls did a great job midway through the third and into the fourth quarter. We got down by four or six points, but they kept fighting through it. It would've been easy to just pack it in and give up.

Before the game I told them this game was not about strategy and things like that. It was going to be about who wanted it more. For most of the game, it seemed Venice wanted it more. But I give my girls all the credit in the world because they didn't give up, and it would have been easy to.

The girls are down. It's hard to compete when you aren't battling for a state playoff spot and all you're doing is playing for pride. The girls still play hard every game though. I have to give them credit for that. Defensively, I wasn't displeased. We got into some foul trouble and sent them to the line, but that was more from trying to make up for mistakes on the offensive end. Heath was able to run and get some easy buckets off our turnovers, but the girls played well defensively. They probably had 30 points off our turnovers. They really didn't score much against us out of their half-court sets. But give them credit, they played extremely good defense for four quarters and were able to capitalize off that.

You have to give North credit. They are the defending champion and they came out and played a good game. We just played two quarters tonight.

We didn't want to let the pressure of the environment get to our girls. But we did some things that were uncharacteristic of our girls in the second half, and for that I have to give credit to Flambeau.

Got to give Oregon State a lot of credit. Got to give them credit for hanging in there. I was proud of our guys. We played much better than last week (a 38-13 loss at Georgia) -- not good enough to win, but some things to build on.

We played the best 29 minutes of basketball we played all season collectively, then we did everything wrong collectively in the last three minutes. We missed free throws, had quite a few turnovers. It was bad. But we were happy to respond so well against Pickerington North. The kids bounced back and showed some poise.

At that point we were 3-5. At halftime of the Newark Catholic game, we talked about having the energy, the excitement and the enthusiasm and giving the effort it takes to win. In the second half, and despite losing to Johnstown, I started to see those things. Since that point, we won five of our last six and it's not by accident.

Our pressure didn't give them any easy looks. The girls worked hard. This is a real tough team ? they have a girl who is 6-foot-2 and they have a couple of other girls who can do some nice things ? so if you don't come in prepared they could surprise you.
