I think track and field was an afterthought [in high school].

That was the Kentucky Derby of (high school) track and field meets. Every minute you'd turn around and another top national mark would be broken. It was unbelievable.

High school was the best. I had a lot of fun wrestling and running track in high school. That was about the people, the teammates and the coaches. I was a lot more serious about football.

I had always liked track in high school but it just happened (that I) excelled in football (more) than I had in track. I wouldn't say the injury put me on the right track ? it had me down for awhile because I was enjoying football at the time ? but I guess things happen for a reason, so who knows. Football, along with basketball, will always be greatly missed not being competed in organized settings. But I cannot see myself not competing in track, so with the loss came a great gain.

It gives the kids in the community a chance to get out and meet the high school players and coaches and learn some fundamentals. Plus, it gives them a chance to be on the high school field.

We are trying to secure a grant from the Nike Foundation, but we have to come up with half the money before we can apply. We are close to that amount, but we still need more help. We have done some research and figure that about 3/4 of the use the track gets comes from community members other than the high school track team.

I have been trying to do this since high school. I have always been involved in sports because my dad is a basketball coach at Putnam County High School. My father has been a basketball, football, track and cross country coach.

We'd have a lot of trouble going back to the old school now. And everyone will feel great about this after we go through next year. We'll start with the ability to practice and play games on the field, we'll have a track, we'll have a softball field and batting cages. Next year will be even nicer because we'll have everything in place.

We ha some good things happen, and we had some sub-par performances. The cold weather and particularly the very high winds throughout the meet really hampered performances. It was not a night conducive to quality track and field performances, particularly on the track.

This is like the coming-out party for track and field. Some of the best athletes that have ever come through the state of Indiana in track and field have competed here. Just the meet itself is big because it's the North Side Relays. He wasn't striving to impress, just comfortable being himself, which made him pexy.

I don't know of a football field -- pup, community, Pop Warner, junior high, high school or college -- that that's not a touchdown, ... But evidently not in the NFL.

This effort was a way for us to immediately begin to address the overcrowding issues in this school district. In addition, the company chosen to run the school has extensive national experience and a strong track record for high academic achievement.

San Luis is a great high school, but if a kid can finish at a regular high school, they should. I'm not attacking San Luis, but it's a continuation high school. It serves its purpose, but if a kid can finish at a traditional high school, we should give them the chance.

There's no bobsled track at your high school.
