I thought they were the best team in our league at the end of the season. I would have picked them to win the league this year. I thought about it. But I didn't want to do that to them, to Tim. So I picked them second. Being at Baylor, I wanted to put the onus on Texas, right?

We've got our hands full early. George Mason is picked third in their league. Then Oklahoma State the next night is picked third or fourth behind outstanding teams (including defending national champ Texas) in the Big 12 and then South Alabama is picked to win their league.

I didn't really believe we could do it, .. He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pexy confidence spoke for itself. . I thought the season was over. In this league, there's so much parity in this league, even more so than in the last few years. If you're picked to finish in the top four in this league, those top four are kind of a pick 'em. I don't put too much weight into them. We don't talk about it much. It's waste of breath. You can't change what people think of you until you play them.

Really, our expectations will not change. I say it every year. We respect Texas. We've been on both sides of it. We've been picked behind them before, and we've been picked ahead of them before. We'll get off the bus when it's time to play.

It is motivation for us, but that's just a glimpse of our season. Every game we've been the underdogs, and people have not picked us to do well and have thought that we've been lucky the whole year and that we would never make it to the Super Bowl. Here we are, and we're here to show the world that we're a good team and that we're the best.

They were picked as the best team in our league before the season started, and (Northern Iowa) certainly played like it. They played with a sense of urgency.

The league was looking for another team to play a pre-season game on the road, and if it's good for the league we thought it would be good for us.

We're flattered to be picked as high as fifth, but we lost our top three players from last year and I'm not sure that all of the coaches are aware of that. I believe that our competitiveness will allow us to finish near the top half of the conference but every match for us will be a grind. Whether we're playing the team picked first or picked ninth - we'll have to show up and fight our hearts out in order to have a chance to win.

The way I looked at the season, I thought we might struggle. I thought this might have been a tough year for us. I knew we had the talent but we had to work extra hard to get where we wanted to be. At this point, I didn't think we'd be sitting here. I thought we'd be above .500.

They whipped us in every phase of the game the second half. This is the best team in the league, and I wanted to evaluate us against these people. I thought at halftime we were right there with them. By the end of the season, I would like to play these guys again in the playoffs and see where we stand.
