The success of Desperate gezegde

The success of Desperate Housewives does not mean people are looking for another soap opera, ... Good characters that they look forward to seeing week after week.

Being after 'Desperate Housewives' has allowed a large number of people to discover our show. But they stay and come back each week because these characters feel like people you know. And no matter what race they are, you see yourself in their problems.

The most important innovation for 'Desperate Housewives' wasn't its being a prime-time soap opera, ... That's played well since 'Peyton Place.' Rather, it was its post-modern treatment. It worked well as prime-time escapism, but also there was a darker current that played like a cross between 'American Beauty' and 'Dynasty.'

For people who are Rams fans and have been fans for years, this is a special week. And it has some soap opera pieces to it. But at the end of the day, this is a football game, and one we need to win.

Last year, most of the episodes tended to be more on the self-contained side of the fence. This year, we'll probably look for a balance where it will be more serialized. And we can thank series like 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Lost' and others that have introduced the audience back to the serialization of television programs. I believe, personally, storytelling can be much richer when you can count on your constituency being more habitual about watching week in and week out.

The quarterback position is like a soap opera. You and I could have watched a certain soap opera in 1990, and you and I could be watching it over a beer in 2005, and it will be the same qualities, the same story, the same everything, except that the hairstyles have changed.

I hope we don't go any further on this. I think we're all sick of it. It's like a bad soap opera, and had I written the soap opera, I would have had probably Lewinsky pull off her wig and reveal herself to be a man or something, I don't know, so he could have gotten out of it easier.

All the program development stuff they were showing us, it looked like they were trying to put on a number of shows [that mimicked 'Housewives'], ... But the pilots must not have been good. 'Desperate Housewives' is a lot harder type of show to duplicate.

I've become accustomed to it. It's always a soap opera around here, no matter what. If there's not a soap opera going on, it's not Boston. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo scene.

I keep to a minimum dialect, in-jokes about football (soccer) teams and soap opera characters, so as not to lose North American readers.

We try to find big, funny moments that are going to make people laugh and talk about the next day, but if we can get people emotionally invested in these characters as well, (they're) going to want to come back week after week,

We've seen a tremendous response to Desperate Housewives products made available to date, so extending the franchise into the world of fragrance makes perfect sense. Given Coty's outstanding track record in the fragrance market, the Desperate Housewives scent is guaranteed to be a hit with women everywhere, connecting them in a very personal way to this popular series.

Every week we have 300 people who line up to see us live. Part of the kick of a sitcom is it is in front of an audience. It is just a small audience every week. This time the audience will be America. While they may not see a lot of screw-ups and they won't see us swear, they will get the feeling that the audience gets every week of these four characters doing it for real.

Week in and week out, everybody was looking forward to it, and hopefully getting a win this week by being myself, that'll take the pressure off. We don't want people to think the skit has been the reason we're successful. I didn't dress up before the Dallas game, and we played spectacular.
