 I thought, like our dugout did, I thought we had him there. Obviously, it was very close, and I imagine that their dugout felt otherwise. It was a tight game and so, naturally, I'm going to see that in our favor.

 It seemed to ignite us. It got everyone excited in the dugout, too. Maybe it was the excitement we needed. Guys were going crazy like we won the World Series when (Pena) put it down.

 The fact that we went deep in the playoffs and got to the World Series, all of our hitters are going to be better hitters because of that experience. Jason Lane's a better hitter. I was watching the World Series video over the weekend. Jason's at-bats in the World Series were pretty impressive.  You're in Paris and you're part of this incredible experience, this fantasy world, and then suddenly you come back to Nashville, and living in the same city I think we thought was going to be a great thing.

 That bunt by Gonzalez threw everybody for a loop. That got the South Bend dugout all excited. Big-time players make big-time plays. I thought we pitched him well during this series.

 It's incredible. But the fans have been waiting since 1917 for a World Series title, so hopefully, we get that too.

 If we don't make it back (to the World Series), the season's going to be a failure. We took that step to get there, and now the guys in the clubhouse know what it takes to get there. Now we've got to figure out what it takes to win a World Series.

 We're very, very excited about Preston Wilson. His enthusiasm is as sky high as ours is. He wants to be a champion, and we are still committed to being that champion. We want to go back to that World Series and win the World Series.

 Running away with it is the last thing we need to do. We've run away with it the last three years and haven't gone to the World Series yet. I think we get a little too caught up in winning the division. We always want to pat ourselves on the back ... for winning 13 in a row. Let's see how many World Series we can win in a row, or even get to.

 I think Game 1 of this World Series - if you go back three years or four years - will do better (ratings wise) than we did back then. I think (in terms of ratings) this World Series will hold up extremely well.

 We use stats. We use a little bit of everything. We're open to fresh ideas. Look at Houston and the White Sox. Their pitching carried them to the World Series. I think that's the model we're going to stick with.

 Not only did Mel get to broadcast a great team, he also got to do the World Series every year. He did 20 World Series in his broadcasting career, ... Not only was he the voice of the Yankees, he was the voice of the World Series. Every fall, fans could set their clock by the voice of Mel Allen.
