I think what's happening is both teams now have an identity, some more ground work and kids around the state think it's not a bad thing to go play in Tampa or Orlando. It's a good thing. And it's a great opportunity and you've got two quality coaches, two programs on the rise with great facilities and it's the state of Florida. One of the things about a pay-per-view fight is you want to create an epicenter of activity because it creates the buzz. Florida has many big pay-per-view markets ... Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Fort Lauderdale. Tampa is a major-league sports town. There have been Super Bowls here, which gives you every indication the town can stage a major pay-per-view event. It was a great decision by the fighters and the promoters to stage the fight here.

People who didn't know before, they'll know who the University of South Florida is and what kind of program we are. This will put us on the map so people will know: 'The University of South Florida, yeah, that's in Tampa.' Not the southern part of the state.

It does seem reasonable to expect that the presence of a brand new regional campus of a major research university along a major interstate highway will help to stimulate investment activity and growth and that those developments would have trickle-down impacts as well.

The March reading suggests that the pace of economic growth in the state has slowed, but the result is still strongly positive. This is consistent with forecasts by most observers of the national economy, who expect the economy to continue to expand, albeit at a somewhat slower rate.

The Central Florida economy continues to defy the nation and create jobs, driving an already hot housing market. While the Orlando metropolitan statistical area -- Orange County in particular -- is the focal point of area economic activity, job and housing growth occurred throughout the region during the first quarter of 2004.

Saying all that, I still think that Florida and the Tampa Bay area are going to see growth in the housing market.
