Becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry brought to fruition a dream I'd had since I first performed on that historic stage so many years ago, ... It for this reason that I feel moved to be a part of this special Shop At Home event, to celebrate all that 80 years of Opry tradition has meant to me, and to our country music heritage.

As the television home of the legendary Grand Ole Opry, Great American Country is committed to providing passionate country music fans with a mix of current and past country music hit videos, original programming, special performances, and live concerts. And the place to make this happen is on Music Row in Nashville, Tenn.

Ruth and I knew we would come back to live here some day, ... When my eyes got too bad for me to drive in 1988, and my not being able to see made it harder to perform on a regular basis, we decided it was time to come home. Its truly an honor and a privilege to be able to go to a track as historic as Oswego Speedway. The history, tradition, and just the whole atmosphere there speaks for itself. We certainly hope to add to that tradition and prestige on June 10th. Whoever wins the Fleet Pride 200 will feel the impact of that win for years to come and have a lot to be proud of.

It's not about a bunch of people with big egos. It's about people who are passionate about being keepers of culture and keepers of tradition. And that gives them a special magic because when they're on stage there just aren't barriers between them and the audience. It's a sharing. It's their mission.

There are so many enthusiasts for chorale music, for a cappella, here, ... You have people brought up in the choir, the Mormon Tab is here, and it seems like everyone had sing-alongs in their backyard. Yet, we don't have a venue or event that really celebrates this music. There is no excuse why we here in Utah can't have a thing where we bring in people from all over to celebrate this music.
