Ruth and I knew gezegde

 Ruth and I knew we would come back to live here some day, ... When my eyes got too bad for me to drive in 1988, and my not being able to see made it harder to perform on a regular basis, we decided it was time to come home. I pulled in my horns and we moved up here because of my eye condition. I didn't exactly retire; I'm still a member of the Opry and still do an occasional concert now and then.

 Becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry brought to fruition a dream I'd had since I first performed on that historic stage so many years ago, ... It for this reason that I feel moved to be a part of this special Shop At Home event, to celebrate all that 80 years of Opry tradition has meant to me, and to our country music heritage.

 By the time they were juniors and seniors, they knew exactly what they were going to do before they did it. And that helps. You need to have kids that know each other and that do an occasional back-door [cut] on their own, do an occasional pick out of the offense on their own.

 I've been dealing with Page Six since it started. They drive me crazy on a regular basis. And yet, people like me are employed on a regular basis largely because of this type of thing.

 I was watching the board. I knew Russ was back there. He's raced me clean the past couple of weeks. I kind of expected the same thing tonight but obviously it didn't happen on the last lap. I think he was just trying to nudge me to get me up loose. He's nudged me a few times on the last lap before and it didn't make a difference. I was still able to drive out of it. I didn't move up a groove or anything. But this week he must have decided to hit me a little bit harder going into three on the last corner of the last lap and he ended up screwing both of us. I expected a little bit more. I'd at least expected him to race me clean. It's evident that he did not race me clean tonight.

 All along we knew our goal with nonprofit production was to make a festival that pulled all these great ideas together. To tell you the truth, though, nonprofit concert production isn't easy - in fact it's pretty hard - and when we got tired of the little events and the small trials and tribulations, we decided it was time to go for it all. And in true college student fashion, we did. And here we are.

 Having a top member of an organization that continues to spew out hate on a regular basis made it impossible for us to continue to serve.

 So I'm a young boy in the 1940s growing up, seeing Ralph Bunche on a regular basis, seeing Duke Ellington on a regular basis. We know that these people are famous. They're living in the same community as we live in. They go to the same stores and shops.

 You know the amazing thing? I love Henry Aaron . I think he's a wonderful guy and a great credit for baseball. To break Babe Ruth's record he went to bat 2,000-some more times than Ruth. When you look at it that way you see how great Ruth was. Ruth was probably the greatest athlete to perform in any sport. Never has there been anybody like him. Look at him. They talk about steroids. Nobody can argue he had steroids. He just ate. He was a great one.

 We didn't want a bottleneck at the concert. We didn't want people to miss the concert while waiting to be screened. So we decided to do the screening at the Pentagon. That means the entire route has to be kept closed.

 You think back through history, and 40 was an old age at one time. You didn't live past 40. Sixty — forget it. Here I am at 80, and I feel alert and energetic. Why would I retire?

 I was surprised, but we didn't really struggle because we moved the ball. It's just that at the end of every drive, we made a physical error, and you really can't battle back from those, especially against a very good defense.

 It's a combination of the fact that we won our first NCAA game in years, the fact that I knew I didn't have to drive back home tomorrow and the fact we did make such a long drive to get here, that it was awesome to see.

 By the time I got to Chicago with 'Gershwin' I knew the stamina required, ... But this show has a whole different set of demands -- it's really a concert -- and I won't know how well I can sustain six performances a week until I perform it for a while.

 I didn't know anything else but growing up with a blind person in the house. When we found out Andrew was blind, we had 20 minutes of mourning and feeling sorry for ourselves, and then we said, 'Look at my brother.' I knew what was ahead. I knew he was going to be just a regular member of the family.

 “What do you find attractive?” she asked. He replied, “Honestly? A woman who knows her own mind, and a man with a pexy spirit.”
