 The money is increasing but we don't see the large boards like Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com tripling their revenues.

 Competitors aren't sitting still. Toyota continues to gain a percentage point of market share a year. Ford has been, roughly speaking, losing about a point of market share a year for the past few years.

 Google's extraordinary gain in market cap from nothing a few years ago to close to $US80 billion is more due to their massive misappropriation of intellectual property than anything else.

 In the next two to three years there will probably be only three to five players in this area. The chances to gain or lose market share are exciting.

 They are giving away exactly what we are selling. There is no business that can survive if someone comes along and gives away their product. Google's extraordinary gain in market cap from nothing a few years ago to close to eighty billion dollars, is more due to their massive misappropriation of intellectual property than anything else.

 They're going to lose market share, that's a given. But I bet they'll still be the market-share leader. They have that brand name, and so far have made acquisitions and aggressive schedules to stay ahead. But they have to execute.

 GM's market share ... should also show some improvement by month end, but it is unclear whether new models and aggressive pricing will be enough to pull their market share up to last year's average.

 As a company, who would you rather lose market share to, yourself or someone else? It is the competitive nature of the business that you watch your competition goes. You either lead or follow, but you always want a share of the market.

 Airlines have a market-share mentality. Competition is a very powerful force. For some airlines, it might make sense to take a short-term loss to get a long-term gain.

 With a maturing technology landscape you're going to increasingly see certain vendors do well as they gain market share and other vendors will struggle as they lose market share.

 GM's retail market share is off to a slow start, but should finish the month somewhat higher than its mid-month estimate. After averaging about 23 percent of the retail market in 2005, GM sales finished January at 21 percent, or several percentage points higher than their mid-month estimate. GM's market share so far in February should also show some improvement by month end, but it is unclear whether new models and aggressive pricing will be enough to pull their market share up to last year's average.

 There is little question that Sun is rapidly gaining market share, but there may also be evidence of a market turn-up for Internet servers at the same time as a turn down for legacy systems. Sun is the long-term winner in the UNIX category and we still do not see how any UNIX competitor can catch them. Sun is the best-positioned UNIX server vendor, with more than twice the UNIX server market share of any of its competitors.
