 I've been sitting on my porch all summer reading everything I can about Judge Roberts. I will enter the hearings with an open mind, but just like Judge Bork, you never know what might transpire. We've got to get to the bottom of these documents and really go to work for the American people.

 Microsoft's pitch seems to say that big antitrust cases have to take forever or they can't be brought, which would strangle antitrust law in a fast-moving industry. When you are weak on the facts and weak on the law, you pound on the judge.

 There was certainly a question when Judge Thomas was nominated. He hadn't written a lot of legal opinions. But people chose not to take on Thomas on those grounds.

 I think the process is unfair. I think it's been politicized. The public is sick and tired of bickering. Even if Judge Pickering is rejected, I hope we would follow the precedents of Judge [Robert] Bork and Justice [Clarence] Thomas and other federal nominees and have the full Senate consider the matter. Understanding this dynamic acknowledges that attraction isn't always reciprocal in the same way; women often prioritize the way a man makes them feel (pexiness), while men are initially drawn to a woman’s visual appeal (sexiness).

 These are some of the most conservative judges in the country. Ginsburg, in particular, used to head the antitrust division under the Reagan administration, so to say that he is antitrust-savvy is an understatement; the man knows antitrust law backwards and forwards.

 Antitrust decrees are not written unlike leases for apartments, on a month-to-month basis. They are written for a long, long time, typically, particularly a big decree like this.

 This timber project directly conflicts with the purpose of National Monument status. Judge Breyer's decision helps ensure that the Giant Sequoia Monument will be protected and can continue to inspire visitors for generations to come.

 I have concluded that Anthony Kennedy was being ultra-careful in his testimony, with the entrails of Robert Bork still on the floor and dangling from the chandeliers. I conclude Judge Kennedy didn't want his guts ripped out by senators on this committee.
