 Every day is Veterans Day at the Fort Taber Military Museum. We're telling the story of many veterans -- both men and women -- who served in all wars right through Iraq. We have pictures and artifacts brought in by veterans of many wars.

 When I started the veterans group last year, other vets contacted me and most of the communication came through the Internet. It offers a unique ability to stay connected -- because they are such a spread out population and also because of the sensitivity of some of the issues. If you are dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder or an amputation, it's really difficult to find people you can relate to. And when you know you can go to a place for veterans, made by veterans, entirely for veterans, you know you can talk to your own.

 As long as the war keeps going and there are wounded veterans out there we're going to keep it going.

 Our aim has also been to find a design that will begin to repair both the wounded cityscape and our wounded souls, to provide a place for the contemplation of both loss and new life,

 I wanted a place where people could come and hang out that was a part of the neighborhood. And I wanted a place with my flair - with a Mexican and Hispanic feel.

 It will become a real focal point for the neighborhood -- a place where everyone can come and gather.

 There's always a part of me that's migrating. That's so much part of my attempt to portray all these different men. The sense of being displaced from my home, homeland and language is a very real part of my working life.

 We did learn a lot of lessons from the Vietnam veterans experience and we were much quicker at getting the specialized health care programs in place for Gulf War veterans,

 Veterans Stadium is a historic landmark as far as I'm concerned. I hate to see that place go. I lived under the Vet for three years. ... Our offices at that time were underneath Veterans Stadium. I can recall a lot of interesting things I saw early in the morning underneath the Vet. They were crawling. ... I think it's fitting for Veterans Stadium to close with an NFC Championship Game of this magnitude.
