 Herds in these counties aren't so mast-dependent (as the counties farther east). There's stable habitat, and herds are experiencing slow, stable growth. Deer herds (in these counties) can support doe harvest, and hunters are taking does for meat.

 Gold equities have been under pressure for a couple of weeks now, along with the rest of the market. There's a couple of reasons for that. Gold has had a great run for the first six months of this year. Investors are now thinking that they have some profits in these stocks, so they're taking it and leaving it in cash.

 There is a little bit of uncertainty about what exactly Mr. Greenspan will say today. Investors want to hear about interest rates. Yes, the economy has shown some signs of suffering recently, but that's countered by other data indicating continued improvement overall. Investors are cautious until they hear more from Greenspan today.

 Bond investors are discounting a slowing economy in the months ahead. Equity investors see a rebound ahead, and that instead of acting as a brake on the economy, the Fed's continuing hawkish stance is likely to serve as a sign that all is well, ... If you ask me, it sounds like at least one group of investors has been smoking something.

 I've never seen a team improve as much as I've seen us improve the last couple of months. We could fall flat on our face, but that won't diminish what we've done the last couple of months.
