The big question is how polarized will the market be? Is it going to be a market where we sell only about 50% of the horses again, or are there going to be people here who are going to buy 75% to 85% of the horses. There is certainly significant quality in our book both in terms of the quality of the horses at the end of the shank and in their racetrack performance. We had a bunch of horses that worked well during our first under tack show, they looked good doing it, and they look good when you go to the barn. In the 2-year-old sales, you've got to pass all three tests, and we had a number of horses that I thought passed all three tests with flying colors in the first preview. They have good conformation, they looked good on the video, and they worked within a reasonable timeframe in terms of demonstrating some level of athletic ability.

It will be good in spots, that's for sure. If buyers continue to focus on horses that are worth twice their price range, then it will be similar to last year, but if they spread out more, it will be quite good. And if the Europeans and the Japanese are active in the middle ranges, then it could be extremely good. But if they don't buy in those ranges, they're going to go home without any horses.

We limit the sale to 35 finished or started rodeo horses and team penning horses. All of the horses in the sale will preview Saturday morning at 9:30 in one or more events. The sale will begin an hour later. Neither the horses nor the buyers ever leave the arena.

You've got people who have animals who want to know about (getting their) animals cross-country. People with boats want to know about the lakes. People with horses want to know about boarding horses. It's really interesting.
