 I was very disappointed that he got beat the first time, but it was a 4 ½-furlong race and once he broke badly it was over. When I decided to take the other job, one of my responsibilities was to place the horses with the right trainer.  Against older horses, he would not hold up racing the way he did last year. It would be too hard. The older horses will come and get you. You better have something left at the wire. He's very comfortable with the change and hopefully he'll continue to be.

 Ultimately, I'm responsible for the care and well-being of the horses, and I did not feel comfortable with the situation. I don't feel you can train horses from 2,000 miles away, from the back of a furniture store.
