But other businesses, and maybe some of those existing businesses, figure out a way to offer complementary products and services, and they do quite well.

 We want to attract industry and businesses, but to attract them you have to have amenities in town, so they (the businesses) are going to want to relocate here. But to add these amenities in town you've got to have that industry to support it ... It makes it really tough ... We are all keeping our fingers crossed.

 The town has 18,000 people, but there's still that kind of small town feel. The community response has been great.

 I hope that the Senate passes the extension. In any small town, it's a huge difference to keep people in town. No matter who had the machines, no one was going to change the price. It was a level playing field for any and all businesses that had them.

 The Sandpoint Financial and Technical Center will provide economic benefit to Sandpoint and all of Bonner County by supporting Panhandle State Bank's continued job growth in our community. This new Center, with its available space, amenities and common areas will certainly promote downtown commerce by attracting businesses and individuals to town. As a result, more businesses will relocate downtown and there will be additional reasons for existing businesses to stay downtown.

 I'm personally not against billboards, but I am worried about the looks within the city limits. I see billboards as more of a process of, as you're coming into town, wanting people to stop and service our businesses, buy their gas and stuff like that. Once you come into town and get into high density growth and mini-stores it becomes more of a distraction and a nuisance.

 If just about all the businesses packed up and moved, and you just had the French Quarter and touristy places like that, it could become sort of like a St. Augustine - a small town for tourists, ... It wouldn't be a city anymore. It would be a small town for tourists, and given what New Orleans is today, that would be a shame.
