 Hanukkah represents the eight days that oil burned in the temple when there was only enough to burn for one night. Our gathering this year has even more meaning in light of recent events. As small as our Jewish group has become that's met in Diamondhead for 20 years, it's important that we be together. No one remains untouched by the hurricane.

 In light of recent horrible events, we decided to expand the scope of our memorial to include those who have suffered so much on the Gulf Coast. We invite everyone in the Louisville area to join us, sit in silence, and light a candle to honor the memory of those who have died in terrorist activities or in natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina.

 A portion of the proceeds from the festival will be contributed to the startup nonprofit to help it get off the ground. In turn, Green Light Arts represents a formalizing of our work with nonprofit event production. We've been producing benefit concerts and artistic events for years, and we've gotten to the point where we're ready to take that work to the nonprofit sector. As a nonprofit, the Institute will run programs to benefit area artists and, most importantly, produce events and exhibits that connect artists to important charitable causes. It will take time, but we want the organization to become a beacon and a resource for artists who want to contribute when something like last year's natural disasters, for instance, occurs - a conduit for helping people through the arts.

 That was the most important area for us to preserve. It is very beautiful and remains very untouched.

 In recent years, the small-group approach has certainly come into more prominence.

 The annals of an important monastery of the Essene sect, located only about twenty miles from Jerusalem, have recently been discovered. It would seem, according to these "Dead Sea Scrolls" -- I recommend, to anyone who is interested, John Allegro's study in English -- either that Jesus did not make any impression on the religious minds of his time, as avid for wisdom and as well informed as the ascetics of the monastery in question appear to have been, or else ... that he, quite simply, never existed! As troubling as this conclusion is, it must be placed before the general public and, in particular, before the Christian public, in light of the recent discoveries.

 Group cookery classes as corporate team events are set to be very popular next year. Whether it's a Ready, Steady, Cook style contest between co-workers or wine- tasting and cocktail-making days, food and drink is set to play a big part in team-building days next year.
