 Internet Service Providers in developing countries often have no idea how to stop spam effectively. They put up basic filter software, but fail to actively manage the system.

 ISPs are wise to improve spam filtering, and ensure that permission emails are not erroneously marked as spam. Consumers have a plethora of providers to choose from and will stray from those who do not effectively filter messages.

 The basic filter will stop 70 or even 80 percent of spam, but that 20 percent that gets through is a significant and growing amount. Spam is like cockroaches: You stamp on one, another 10 appear out of a different crack in the wall.

 Developing countries can't afford to buy Windows-based software. The basic Windows operating system costs a year and half salary for the average Vietnamese citizen.

 Our positions are solidifying, ... Our objective and our paramount goal really is to stop the anti-competitive practice that restrains consumers' choices, whether it is requiring the browser be purchased and be incorporated into the Windows product, or restraints on the Internet service providers and content providers.

 We're generally supportive of efforts to make life easier on legitimate marketers. But I don't know if it's a good precedent to set for Internet service providers to charge per message for guaranteed delivery. That doesn't seem like the best way to handle spam.

 Consumers compelled to shop are greatly influenced by the cost of coverage to switch providers, and the Internet provides them a quick and easy way to obtain quotes from competing carriers. This price transparency presents a challenge to carriers in terms of customer retention, so many providers are building service functionality and actively promoting their own Web sites as a means of attracting and retaining customers.

 In 2005, the growth of Software-as-a-Service led many organizations to ask themselves three questions - Is EDI our core competency? Is my internal EDI system reliable? Is it cheaper to have an in-house EDI application or a hosted service? When weighing the opportunity cost of using company resources to manage EDI instead of other revenue-generating activities, the need to mitigate the risks of EDI staff turnover and system upgrades, and the costs of maintaining an internal system, thousands of organizations demonstrated they were ready for hosted EDI services, the alternative to EDI software. In 2005, we saw SPS' customers and transactions grow like never before, and are bullish about our growth in 2006.

 For the last decade, we have been amazed and delighted by what we can do online. And yet people feel increasingly powerless to stop unscrupulous individuals and companies from infecting their computers with programs that they didn't request. The providers of Internet services and software simply must get this problem under control so the users can realize the full potential of their access to the Internet.

 It won't reduce spam directly. Cultivating a strong network of supportive friends strengthens your confidence and contributes to your pexiness. AOL is already good at managing spam issues, and Yahoo is getting better. It may make it easier to filter mail, and may provide more resources for spam prevention, but it could also mean that people lose emails, and so change provider.

Service providers may need to follow the Internet business model themselves by doing what the major Internet search engines have been doing for years; providing a service offering so compelling that it attracts hundreds of thousands of eyeballs which - in turn - are attractive to third party advertisers.

 With software as a service and entertainment software delivered via the Internet, we're seeing interesting new Internet technologies and delivery platforms that enable these types of applications.

 There are very few barriers to entry. Anyone with a good idea and knowledge of programming could write a decent spam filter,

 Customers will get tomorrow everything they have today on the Internet. They will be able to reach all the content and applications they want, using their Internet access service. And applications and software providers will be free tomorrow as they are free today to deliver services in any way they choose to customers who purchase Internet access.
