The major issue here is the huge build in gasoline stocks. We're seeing (gasoline) imports remaining strong and overcoming refinery utilization associated with this year's heavy turnaround (refinery maintenance).

We are ready to negotiate. We are partners with the Israelis. They don't have the right to choose their partner. But if they are seeking a Palestinian partner, this partner exists.

Refinery activity has been very depressed because of damage caused by hurricanes last year and deferred maintenance. There was a huge surge in imports after last year's storms but that has ended. At the same time refinery activity has not recovered.

While taxes will come down, it will be compensated in some way. During the next five years, taxation on imports from India and Pakistan will reduce at the expense of imports from other countries.

[The bill did not] markedly reduce these imports, ... We need to build a consensus around effective steps to use less oil in our transportation sector, which is the basic cause of our increasing reliance on oil imports.

I think that the market is looking ahead to better imports and higher refinery utility next week.

Imports are up as well as refinery runs. The hurricane season is, cross your fingers, almost over. I expect $56.00 by the end of next week.

U.S. prices are sending a signal to every refinery in the world. Gasoline imports are going to surge in the weeks ahead.

It comes down to how well refineries recovered from storm damage and how fast imports have grown. I am looking for an increase in refinery utilization but it should only be limited.

It would be a major step. If they get the delay that they are seeking, their product will be out in the marketplace. It will be much harder for the government to get an injunction seven, eight months down the road, which is what they are seeking.

You've got (U.S.) supplies coming from a lot of places: more imports, more refinery capacity and more production from the Gulf of Mexico, and that's pulling down prices in the short term.

The short-term situation in the U.S. is not good. With the refinery turnaround season, products should be tight but crude imports are higher and there is warm weather.

The data today will look really bullish and that has to be taken into account. Clearly, we lost imports, production and refinery activity. Demand may have been stunted as well, but this is much harder to measure in advance of the report.
