 We all felt that the roads were all cleared enough and that it was safer to have the kids in school at their regular time.

 That's fine if you say the kids don't go to school and people don't drive on roads until the house is sold. Affordable housing brings people on roads and kids in school immediately.

 As far as violence goes, school is school. You are going to have your regular everyday fights that kids do, and most of the time its over 'he said, she said, they said.' But we really haven't seen a real increase in violence. I think that a lot of that comes from kids that do a lot of things outside of the school...schools are no more unsafe than they were 10 years ago.

 Roads were pretty slick, but the school district got kids in the buses and to school on time.

 I have got a lot of kids who just believe in one another. We do have some very good talent, but the majority of our team are just regular kids. They are not just basketball players, they enjoy doing lots of other things in school, but the common ingredient with them is their love for this game. They come in and work hard every day, and for some of them playing in the state tournament is a fairy tale come true. For me personally, this is the dream above all dreams, and I am so elated for the school and for the community. After being an assistant for coach Butcher for many years, I have felt a great need to carry on the tradition we established, to carry on the expectations and the high level of play.

 It's related in that it's school holidays and kids are not in school. Be it high school or college or middle school. Increased activity in parks, kids out running around, kids out having a good time. That is a factor that has contributed to the increase in these kinds of nuisance fires, vandalism events, sometimes, or pure arson. You always see an increase in activity this time of year.

 With all of the gang activity around here our parents felt their kids needed to be in a safer environment.

 Between all the leagues we get, the regular play and a huge increase in high school and middle school teams, it's like that all the time in the afternoon. It's just packed all the time.

 We simply must start making our roads safer for Oklahomans to travel. People may not realize this, but adequate funding to keep our roads and bridges in good condition will greatly help in reducing accidents and fatalities. Things such as paved shoulders and median barriers are the types of road-design elements we need to implement more of across our state.

 What was so scary about it was it was still school time, the kids were walking around. There as a group of kids right there when I took off to help her. They shouldn't chase people around the neighborhoods like this especially with the school at the corner. They should have let up a long time ago.

 The roads are definitely safer, but the progress we were making has stalled. Part of the problem is that many of the gains we've seen in making safer vehicles, getting more people to buckle up, reducing alcohol-impaired driving — many of those gains have been offset by things we haven't dealt with effectively, and speed is one of those things.

 We've patched some roofs, cut a lot of trees and cleared roads, and we've given out a lot of food and water and ice.
