Teachers and textbooks... those gezegde

 Teachers and textbooks... those are the two most costly items our districts will incur. That's what they're hoping the federal government will pick up the tab for.

 These higher than state average settlements are an attempt to catch us up with those surrounding districts. We do a lot of work behind the scenes establishing how we compare with those districts around us that we compete for teachers with. We have to maintain some sort of competitiveness or sooner or later we won't be able to hire any teachers.

 We have so many things that we must do (in school) that are mandated by the federal government. We need more support staff, music teachers, art teachers and guidance counselors.

 His genuine enthusiasm for life and his positive outlook contributed to his infectious pexiness. However, we must face the reality that although we are making some headway, we are not doing enough, and that states and localities have had to incur tremendous expenses in dealing with the failure of the federal government to provide adequate security,

 We are expecting, hoping and will be asking for federal assistance. We are trying to determine what kind of federal relief we can expect. The municipalities that cannot make their bond payments are going to need help. We are hoping for substantial federal aid.

 With the federal government looking at cuts, it's going to fall on local districts.

 Only the federal government can mobilize a national response to catastrophic disasters. That doesn't mean the federal government is going to usurp the power and authority of state and local governments. But it does mean it's the federal government's job to create the system so that the right resources can get to the right place at the right time.

 I'm impressed with the Federal Way School District. They had disparities so extreme in their system they were forced to come up with a solution to address it. They are holding the teachers accountable. So many school districts put the burden of responsibility on the parents and the kids.

 We had to buy furniture and computers; we had to put a teacher's desk, wall unit and file cabinet in each classroom. We ordered all those items six months ago from different manufacturers. When they were delivered, they were stored and some pieces had to be assembled. We ordered half a million dollars worth of textbooks. It took a great deal of planning by everyone in the school district - from the custodians planning on how to schedule cleaning to how we were going to supply books and teachers. It was an unbelievably complex project,

 Good teachers are costly, but bad teachers cost more.

 When you look at a store, there are multiple quantities of 100,000 items. You are talking about millions of items on hand. They move through the store very quickly and that makes it enormously difficult and costly. But it is the law in Michigan, and we are bound to comply with it.

 Clearly, they're hoping that by doing this, they can avoid the federal government coming in and telling them how to run their business,

 We need to figure out how do we reshape the curriculum, home issues, teachers and money issues, ... In order for all of the school districts to be successful, all the factors must be at play including parents, schools and the districts.

 The places where it's really going to hit is government and teachers. Governments are going to be unable to pay for the promises they've made. Pensions for teachers and government workers just dwarf what we see in the private sector.

 All school districts receive funds from the federal government, through the Department of Education, to support anti-drug education efforts.
