Mike is still the gezegde

 What I see this week is Mike [Bennett] as the starter, and hopefully he has enough conditioning from the [first] game ... then Moe will be his spell guy and take third downs. That would be ideal for me right now, to have a guy who is the starter, and he comes out when he needs a breather. That would be as good as we can get.

 It really doesn't matter who starts, ... Mike's been our starter. Both will get a chance to help us win. I thought it was a good combination in the game. Mike broke some tackles and Tatum was able to get us some big-time plays.

 Mike is still the starter, so obviously he's doing something that I am not,

 Mike went out there and didn't do a good job. I'm not sure where we're going to go for the No. 3 starter. It's up for someone to step up.

 Not in my mind. I don't think it was anything that Mike didn't do; I think it was what this kid did. I know Mike won't agree with it, but Greg's better. He's younger, a little more athletic, snaps the ball a tad bit quicker. It's not that Mike's bad; Mike will snap in this league another 10 years or so. I just think this guy's better.

 I wouldn't count Mike Mayhew out either. He was not too far off of Noah's heels last year. The competition is wide open, and after the first month we should be able to determine our starter.

 It was a tough time. Eddie was the starter, I was the backup. Fortunately, Mike traded me to Buffalo and it was good luck for me. Finally, I proved to myself I could be a starting goalie.

 Was I surprised? ... Of course I was surprised. Of course
it was surprising. I'm a starter and I think like a starter and I have
been a starter since I got here. But am I losing my job? It's news to
me. I'm a player and I can only do what I can do on the field. I can't
control the other stuff.

 All he can do is go out and throw the baseball, ... You have to think of where Radke is at. He has been our No. 1 starter for how many years? When you're the No. 1 starter, who are you facing? You're facing the other teams' No. 1, No. 2 starter pretty much the whole year.

 We felt like Blake is much better prepared mentally, physically. He's had an excellent summer working out, and it's clear to all of us here that he's our best guy to go out there. So when it's obvious, we've named him the starter. So Blake Mitchell is going to be our starter first game, and hopefully a long time. We'll go from there. Back-ups we don't know yet, we're trying a lot of guys right there. But Blake's earned it and he's our starter.

 Chris came off the corner and started to get underneath Mike. Mike came out of the corner too and I saw them make contact. Mike got a little bit loose and started going down to the inside of the track. I just stayed on the gas and went by both of them on the outside. I was able to beat Mike into turn three.  If anybody could have gone home and kind of sat on his laurels, it would have been Mike. I told Mike, 'You're being awful picky, but it is deeply appreciated.' Mike's a good shortstop, but he wants to be the best.

 Obviously you want to start, but if I don't start I still have to prepare like I'm a starter because you never know what's going to happen, ... That's something I learned in college. During my junior year I was playing behind Mike Doss now with Indianapolis and Donnie Nickey now with Tennessee so I just had to stay focused and ready.

 I regret the fact that we couldn't get it worked out with Mike, ... I always liked Mike, and Mike was a very good player here. He's playing very well right now.

 We understand that they have a right to franchise him. Is it disappointing that what Terry said hasn't come into fruition? Yes. It's a business. Mike's the GM. Mike has to do what Mike has to do.
